Description: We wanted to create a friendly, welcoming place where a smile goes a long way! It's about exploring the wonderful foods from around the globe and opening our ears to music from around the world. Giraffes are so tall they see a different view of the world. We LOVE fresh ideas. Giraffe is operated by the original founders Juliette and Russel Joffe and Andrew Jacobs who all have an active role in the day to day management of the business. Giraffe was acquired in March 2013 by Tesco as part of its strategy to utilise some of the space in their larger stores, creating retail destinations that offer customers, in particular families, a compelling experience outside of their weekly shopping trip.

Dropped into this restaurant on a Saturday night while in Bristol with family not expecting anything major. Having tried Giraffe in the Trafford Centre a good few years back, we thought we'd give it a try.

Hadn't booked a table but we were seated within minutes. Attentive, but not overbrearing waitress, brought drinks and took order within 10 minutes. Both wife and myself went for veggie options of which a good number were available. I had the Burrito, ok not exactly what I've had in California, but wow was it good.

Only niggle is the 'inclusion' of a 10% tip on the receipt. To anyone from Giraffe who is reading this, I will make the decision about what to tip and not you! I usually tip for good service and always do this in cash to make sure that it goes to the staff. In this situation, we did tip but this idea of adding it on to the bill is an annoying feature that is likely to win few friends.

My overall opinion is that this is a good place to eat in in Bristol which appears well run.

We met our daughter and grandaughter here for lunch on a flying visit to Bristol. Had a lovely welcome at this busy, lively restaurant. The service could not have been better, the food was just what we needed, and very nice too, but we all thought that the bill was a bit over the top so just watch what extras you order, drinks in particular.

First time we have been to a Giraffe restaurant & only by chance, it was the best breakfast we have ever had in a restaurant.
The poached eggs were perfect, the meal was great served with excellent coffee.
The standard of service was the best we have seen for a long time, lots of other restaurant could learn a lot.
Thanks to all the staff.

Having not been able to get in to the place we wanted to we found Giraffe and really were not disappointed! 'Family friendly' usually means some half hearted crayons and a bit of cardboard with a cartoon picture which gets discarded after a few minutes coupled with a sad 'Child's Menu' and a shrill waitress. Not here! The waiting staff were amazing (and we did have a 7, 4 and 2 year old in tow!), cool and friendly without being patronising, really attentive and made us feel relaxed (even when the two year old sent his drink across the table). The menu is not half bad (could do a few more offerings for vege kids) but tasty and made them feel special. They were also willing to adapt things. The real seller here is that the waiting staff are brilliant and make parents feel as if their custom is genuinely welcome rather than being cumbersome with children! Giraffe is a real winner and we will be going back!
