We made our first visit to this restaurant last week. Although we went very early - half past six - we were warmly greeted and the ambience and decor were excellent. The evening staff didn't appear for a hour, but we were very well looked after by the hard-working fort-holder. The meal was excellent; we don't eat much at our age, and were entirely satisfied. A youngster might still have been a bit hungry and find the portions a little on the diet side. The puddings were generous and enticing; the house wine was a little resiny, but OK for the price. Overall, good value and a splendid venue
