By 8 p.m. we were the only 2 in the restuarant. We decided on the set menu. The beef roast turned out to be lamb ! Just lamb, mash and gravy, spoon of cabbage/green beans, and a small yorkshire. No roasties, carrotts etc. Disappointing evening.

We chose Woburn to meet some friends living near Leicester as somewhere almost half way between us. We also chose a very foggy Monday to visit. We were rather surprised to find many shops and eateries were closed on Monday, but the Brasserie wasn't, so we went into have a coffee when we arrived. We were welcomed warmly and had very pleasant coffee and tea - we were perhaps a bit noisy for 4 of those who have retired but the staff joined in which made us feel comfortable! So we enquired about lunch and booked ourselves in. We enjoyed the Bourbon glazed belly pork, Burgundy braised beef and the rump steak. It was a very enjoyable meal and we were also able to benefit from the Telegraph subscriber discount. If we're in Woburn again we hope the Brasserie will be open, because we wouold happily go again.

Yesterday evening (Saturday 20th October) a group of 12 of us celebrated a 50th birthday at the Woburn Brasserie.

We were seated in a space at the front of the restaurant, separate from other diners, and felt able to celebrate enthusiastically!

The food was excellent - I enjoyed exquisite belly pork - although the ice cream in the baked Alaska deserts was perhaps a little too frozen.

The over-riding positive of the evening was superbly efficient service from the waiting staff, from our arrival before 8.00 pm to departure at past midnight.

This was a very good dining experience at little over £50 per head.

My wife and I visited Woburn for a short weekend, only to find that this little gem of a town had multi functions going on over that weekend, weddings, parties etc,. So finding a restaurant for dinner was a challenge. Fortunately we happened upon Woburn Brasserie and a very accomodating proprietor, Tia Diack, who found a nice table for two just in time. The service was very caring, helpful, knew what way the food is prepared and made her own honest recommendations.

All food was first class, tastefully presented , try the calves liver as an app, and cooked to perfection. Made a very big impression on both of us. Price is the norm for what you get so at the end of our meal, no surprises.
