“You must try this place”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

We visited the Woburn Coffee House today for afternoon tea - yes they do much more than coffee. We had a very warm welcome into the shop and were immediately given menus. We were served quickly with our tea order with old fashioned china cups which were completely appropriate for this small and friendly place. The tea pots were large providing us with 5 cups of tea each! Our food order of welsh rarebit and a cream tea arrived soon after and were delicious. The place is clean and modern yet still retains some old world charm. This is a place to relax and chat. The service and waiting was excellent. The cakes looked amazing and I will definitely be returning to try some. This place is only open at weekends and bank holidays. They are an excellent example of how a business should be run and you will not be disappointed (I hope) if you visit this gem of tea shop.

“Sensational food in stunning surroundings !”
Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

Everything about this place is fantastic. The presentation and quality of the cakes and savoury dishes could not be better. The lemon meringue pie is the best I have ever tasted ! All of the staff are friendly and welcoming and the decor of both rooms is stunning . If you just want a cake and a coffee or to treat someone special to the best afternoon tea they will have ever experienced , this is the place to go . Our only regret is that we live to far away to come more often than we do !

“Excellent afternoon tea and wonderful welcome”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

We were a party of ten celebrating our daughter's birthday and the experience could not have been better. We were given a section of the cafe to ourselves with wonderfully comfortable armchairs and a wood burner to keep us warm on a miserable afternoon. There was a lovely collection of colourful china in the room which was in keeping with that used to serve the tea. everyone was made most welcome, especially the two year old in the party who had a plate decorated for him by the chef-a lovely touch. The cake stands laden with food looked most attractive and the food was first class, with sandwiches, scones, cream cakes and brandy snaps. A selection of teas were offered. We ordered a birthday cake for our daughter which was magnificent and enjoyed by all. fortunately it was so light that we could still enjoy it after all we had already eaten,, and we were given the remaining food to take home without having to ask. Everyone was so welcoming and the chef was a true character who added joy to what was already a very happy afternoon for all. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always allowed to take our time. It was our first visit and will not be our last. Our daughter summed it p by saying it was absolutely perfect.

“First visit to celerbrate a firends special Birhtday”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

My friend had booked a table to celerbrate a special Birthday after hearing from another friend how thay had been and it was abit special. There were seven of us, not all arrived at once, we were 5 mins early but we sat down as there is not alot of room and felt in the way of other diners. The Birhtday girl had not arrived yet, but I was told that they had another booking after us and did we want to start the champagne that she had ordered !! I said that we should wait for her and she arrived 5 mins after the booked time. We were not shown a menu so there was a little confusion when asked what tea we would like as we did not know the choices and some would like coffee. We had a set menu which was lovely, lots of food. The china was mixture of old and new and contemporary which was unusual, maybe just one theme would be nicer. We asked for pastry forks to eat our cake with but again surprising for a specialist Tea room they did not have any. These are just little things but they can make all the difference. All the time we were there one of the staff was hovering and looking at her watch, the plates were cleared away abit too soon. After all the clock watching they were slow to bring the bill, although my friend had her purse out ready. In the end we had enough time but maybe when taking the booking people should be made aware that there maybe another sitting and she may have chosen the second sitting so that we could have stayed abit longer.
