We had an Executive room for £165 . On arrival hotel looked nice enough and in great location. When we retired for the evening ...very hard bed..hard shallow pillows. We were cold all night and especially when we got up in morning. The bathroom had NO heating. Called reception to ask why heated towel rail not working...dont know was the answer. Had a shower ...over bath with a curtain...very narrow bath. No bathrobe provided ...rubbish shampoo in little satchets. Breakfast...'adequate' but what had they done to the tea and coffee ...it was terrible. £165 for the room....way overpriced.

we made a last minute booking on the day for just 1 night stay, so had a good offer. The twin room was very spacious, and warm which was very welcome as it was freezing outside.it was clean and there was extra bedding if required in the wardrobe.Breakfast was included in the price with a wide choice of food , all of which was very good,We didn,t have Dinner as it seemed expensive and there was no offer included for Dinner,so we ate out at one of the pubs in the high street. Entrance to the safari park and house was included , so really good value for the £140 we paid, there is a good size bar but as we had Dinner out we didn,t try it , although we probably would have done had we had D inner at the hotel. We have 2 comments to make that are not a criticism just an observation , there was no offer of help whether you needed it or not , with your bags or being shown to your room , and as we were going thro one of the deviding doors one of the porters was coming thro in the opposite direction and just let the door go in our face. We have stayed at many 4* hotels and found this 3* hotel well worth a visit

Family and friends were booked into this hotel as part of a special rate wedding package, the special rate turned out to be just not charging for breakfast. Most of the guests booked a standard double room for their stay and were disappointed that they were so small the bed took up most of the room and when a wardrobe door or in some cases the door into the room was opened you couldn't get past at all. This hotel is a member of Classic Hotels and my advice is, if you're not one of the main wedding party and can book well in advance, check to see if you can get a better rate through the Classic website, particularly as The Inn requires the full amount for the room when you book. It''s worth a try as we found special offers and better room rates, unfortunately too late for us.The hotel itself is very clean, the staff friendly and the breakfast was good, it is still overpriced but if you need to stay in Woburn it's the best option!

We stayed here for a wedding in October this year and got the room at a discounted rate. Even at that it was vastly overpriced. The room was below freezing with the worst bed I have ever slept in. There were not enough covers or pillows on the bed. The lights in the room kept flashing or went off and the room was dark. In serious need of updating and redecoration. Bathroom was a hazard as shower went all over the floor. Curtain hools hanging out of the wall. When I complained at reception and handed in a commemnts card they said nothing.
The only good point was breakfast, not just because it was great food but mainly because we were checking out!

The rooms were nice,I stayed in the courtyard cottage called the Thorney. Only issue was very forceful shower sprayed water all over bathroom. Food in restaurant very good, my scallop and white pudding starter was excellent. Sea bass main also top notch. Staff attentive, but not in your face.Lovely village and good for golf/safari park etc.

At the moment we're only living about half hour away from Woburn, but had been wanting to go to the safari park and other attractions there for a while. It was also the case that it was a special anniversary and wanted to do something a bit different that just going for a meal. I booked the romantic package online, which was good value for everything we got: bed and breakfast in an upgraded deluxe room, £35pp allowance in the restaurant, free pass to all the woburn attractions, chocalates (hotel chocolat!), champagne and a lovely bunch of flowers (which 5 days later are still sat in my living room!) all in for one night was £190. I'm not saying it as cheap, but in terms of value (which is a different thing) it was well worth it.

You can tell that they don't scrimp on quality here, everything from furniture to food everything was spot on, I actually can't think of anything negative to say!

Woburn

Woburn is lovely, we didn't have time to look around the village but it seemed like the type of place where you could potter around. You're actually right in the centre of the village (though you wouldn't know it as was quiet. We thought it would be walking distance to the abbey, with it all being an estate, it wasn't really. It was at least a couple of miles away, so walkable maybe, but not embarrassingly short to drive. There is free parking also right by the hotel.

Rooms

Actually I've just thought of one negative point, I couldn't see a hairdryer in the room, mind you I had one with me so didn't look in any drawers for it or ask at reception. Hardly enough to put you off visiting though! I'm not sure if deluxe rooms have anything extra in terms of facilities but the room was of a generous size with a large comfortable bed. There was a TV with various channels, and something I haven't seen for a while - sound system and telephone in the bathroom!!! Didn't use them though! You got basic toiletries and sewing kit etc etc. Another nice touch was instead of the usual couple of glasses in the room, there was a pair in the bathroom, and also 3 pairs of different glasses in the actual room. It was just thoughtful. Another thing, I didn't see any individual termperature control in the room. I'm usually really fussy with the temperature but had no problems, and unlike some hotels you could open the windows a decent amount. We also had the chance to look in 2 of the cottages, I wouldn't say they were anything special compared to the rooms, but they were quirky and would be fantastic for families or if you wanted more space. They are all slightly different layouts so ask reception about them.

Weddings

Whilst there we were viewing the estate for weddings, they seem to be quite popular there but we weren't disturbed by any noise. For anyone interested in this side of things they are only licensed at the hotel for 65 guests (though can feed about 20 more) and at the sculpture gallery at the abbey for over 200. You can have your reception at the safari lodge, the golf club if a member or in a marquee in the deer park.

Food

Breakfast was good, sausages, bacon, hash browns, fried break, grilled tomatos, mushrooms, eggs. Various cereals. Choice of toast. Fruit. Minimal cheese/ham. Pastries. Choice of juice. The only thing missing would have been a muffin! Dinner in Oliviers was great. We really pushed the boat out as was our anniversary and we had the £70 credit to spend. Choice of bread and oil/olives. To start I had duck confit ravioli, partner had sushi, main I had a selection of lamb with rosemary gravy & potato gratin, partner had steak & fries. For pud we shared a chocolate fondant, and a raspberry trio (soufle, mousse & jelly). The food was gorgeous. The portions looked small when delivered to the table but we were stuffed full after. The service was also amazing. The only thing I could say here was we had a variety of servers, it would have been nice to have just the one. It would also have been nice to have a main featuring the local venison. The decor was lovely, light and welcoming, it had a very boutique feeling, a bit like someone's living room, with sanded floors, pastels, comfortable chairs. We also ate one lunchtime in the bar/lounge I think it's called Tavistock's (?) we had a fantastic steak baguette in there and a drink. It was a bit darker/cosier/more sofas, very nice ambience.

Hotel Public Areas

Large reception with lots of chairs. Small reception desk, had to queue to ceck out, but only for 5 minutes. Very clean. The corridors were a bit narrow in places, and we had to dodge the buckets of bleachy water that housekeeping were using which was a bit of a pain!

Staff

Everyone was very friendly, courteous and helpful. This industry is plagued by low paid workers who don't want to be there, never found this at the Woburn.

All in all, would highly recommend it. Even though we're so local we'll be back on many occasion I'm sure. In fact at the moment we think we're going to get married at the Sculpture Gallery and have the reception at the Safari Lodge, whilst staying at the Inn. It is a fantastic setting and just 10 minutes off J12 of the M1.
