Owner description: The South West Coast Path National Trail is one of the top walks to be found anywhere in the world.Where else can you walk along 630 miles of such superb coastline? The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery along the way are truly inspirational and every day walking it brings stunning new experiences.Whether you are looking for an afternoon stroll to take you to a beauty spot, or to embark on the challenge of hiking their entire route from Somerset's Minehead on the edge of Exmoor around to the shores of Poole Harbour in Dorset, or something in between, you’ve come to the right place.

“Stunning coastal hiking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012 via mobile

This trail must be the prettiest in the UK. It is long do be prepared to take a few weeks out to complete it or do it in sections. As expected on the coast it is a rollercoaster of a path with some very steep climbs in places but really good for building your fitness and stamina. Stunning views in all directions. My favourite section is from Cape Cornwall round to Lamorna. Beautiful.

“Hard work but a great experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012

630 miles from Minehead to Poole. I've been walking sections for the last six years and only have the section from Weymouth to Poole left to do now.

Some amazing views, spectacular walking - some of it very strenuous. The whole path is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest from sea level three times. Got some wonderful memories and there are lots of sections that I'm looking forward to revisiting.

There's no need to do it all in one go or in any particular order - it's fun to research a section, look at bus times and accommodation options and then look forward to the walk itself.

If you decide to tackle the whole path, join the South West Coast Path Association - the very reasonable annual fee is worth it for the guide book alone, and all profits go to maintaining and improving the path.

“If you like walking, Cornwall and the sea do this”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

Walking along the coast in Cornwall stopping off in B&Bs or hotels is a fun way to spend a week. The sea is spectacular and there is a good amount of variety on the walk. It can be very up and down and sometimes demanding for an amateur rambler such as myself but I felt invigorated by the experience and the people in Cornwall are friendly. We went from St Ives to Plymouth and St Ives is a lovely town there are also some coastal villages along the way. There are lots of other ramblers walking the path and oftentimes it is easy to strike up a conversation. Most days you should take food and drink for lunch

“Heavy, but amazing in it's beauty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2011

We've walked for 2 weeks on the South West Coast Path, from St. Ives to Falmouth.
It was a very beautiful, but also a quite difficult part to walk. You can't do this without a good (walk) condition. We've been walking with full backpacks, 16-17 kilo's (32-34 pounds), camping every night. The weather wasn't very nice, so you should account for this. But the coastline was wonderful, astonishing and the fact that it was hard was actually part of the fun and the adventure.
O, and take care, if you're not from the UK, it's quite difficult to get some cash (in our case, only in London, Penzance and Helston/Falmouth).
