“Lovely relaxing quiet country cottage”
Reviewed October 1, 2018 for a stay in September 2018

Great place to get away from it all for a few days, nice safe garden for the dog to play in, and the addition of a wood next door to walk in with the dog was very handy.
The cottage itself is well equipped and comfortable.
Very central for visiting all the local beauty spots.

Didn't you have wonderful weather too. Sadly took it home with you ! Pleased you enjoyed your break at Longwood Cottage and that you enjoyed your trip to the Wye Valley and Symonds Yat. There are so many lovely places to visit, we hope you come back again and do a few more !

“Tucked away in beautiful Herefordshire this cottage brings peace and tranquility.”
Reviewed September 24, 2018 for a stay in September 2018

Everything you need (including high seated armchairs) with wonderful views over glorious fields and countryside.
The beds are a little hard (could do with toppers) and there would be added expense of further heating in cooler weather but this would not prevent us from returning. TV channel 10 does not work here but this is being picky!
Very well equipped with details of walks and local attractions.
We loved being here.

It was lovely to meet you and we are pleased you enjoyed your break inspite of the dreadful weather. It was chilly for the time of year, but must admit every time I popped into the cottage it was rather too warm for me. I know that when you are not fortunate enough to be as mobile as you might wish, you do feel the cold. We could always have provided a fan heater had you said. The single beds have a topper and are soft but the double bed is an orthopaedic one so may be a little hard for you. A topper might be a good idea for that one too so we will bear it in mind.
We look forward to meeting you again and hope that we can provide some sunshine next time

“Great last minute decision”
Reviewed September 3, 2018 for a stay in August 2018

This was a last minute decision to spend a week at Longwood Cottage and what a great decision it was! The cottage is perfectly set up for visiting dogs with a large enclosed garden as well as an enclosed woodland; we were fortunate enough to see fallow deer twice as well as a woodpecker. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful with loads of things to do. Veronica & Ken are excellent hosts; they ensured that we wanted for nothing and provided an abundance of information regarding places to visit and eat as well as the details of a fabulous drive to Hay Bluff where the views have to be experienced to be believed.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Longwood Cottage and will definitely return again

Well, there's last minute and there's last minute! But so pleased it worked out well. Your dogs were beautifully behaved and the cottage was spic and span when you left, so very much appreciated. We love it when our visitors enjoy the cottage and hope very much to see you again next year.

“Great for dogs”
Reviewed July 14, 2018 for a stay in July 2018

This cottage has a large secure garden so the dogs could just run free. Adjacent is a private wood and a field where the dogs can be walked .
The peace and quiet in this secluded part of South Hereford is wonderful. Plenty of walks from the cottage and within 15 mins in the car. Sollers Hope church is worth a visit, as is Brockhampton church with its thatched roof!

Delighted you and your lovely dogs enjoyed your "working" holiday. We hope you, as well as the dogs, found the cottage comfortable with everything you needed for your holiday. Guests frequently comment on how relaxing it is to bring their dog to Longwood as well as the fact that they don't have to share with other guests. Its all yours ! Do hope you will visit again

“Peace and tranquility”

We've just returned from a 6 day stay at Longwood cottage, chosen specifically to enable me to relax and recuperate after an operation.
The initial booking of the holiday, via the owner, Veronica, was pleasant and easy, but unfortunately I had to make some minor changes to our plan, due to unforeseen circumstances. Veronica was so delightful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and she fitted in with our requests very happily.
On arrival, our dog, Maddie, was welcomed with a lovely doggy basket filled with treats, wipes, mat, etc., seeing this we knew that it would definitely be a doggy-friendly holiday! My husband was pleased too, as we were presented with some very yummy, non-doggy, chocolate biscuits.
Veronica popped round to see us and gave us a warm welcome. There were many folders at the cottage, which contained all the information we needed, (and more), for our stay.

The cottage was very comfortable, clean and the kitchen was well equipped. As there is no reasonably priced shop in the immediate vicinity, I would recommend, as we did, doing the bulk of your shopping before you arrive. There are two very pretty bedrooms and also two toilets, which is always very handy!

As I was unable to walk far, my husband took Maddie for walks each morning. There was a wood at the bottom of the garden (19 acres, I think) and a large orchard the other side, which suited them for a shorter walk. However, for a long walk (3 miles plus), they needed to go via the roads, as the stiles on the country walk from the cottage, were too high for Maddie to get over. There are plenty of other country walks, if you choose to drive a little way from the cottage and details are in the folders.

We went out for dinner each night and tried a few of the local gastro pubs, all of which we would happily recommend. A couple of miles away is the Crown, lovely food and friendly service, but dogs are only permitted in the garden. A few hundred yards further, takes you to the Butchers Arms, also great food and friendly service, but the added bonus is that dogs are permitted in part of the pub where you can dine.
Another really dog friendly pub, with excellent food, (my favourite), was The Moody Cow, but this is a little further away.

Therefore, our choice of a cottage in the country where we could relax and I could recuperate, was 'spot on'. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this delightful little Herefordshire gem and would highly recommend it.

“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed August 4, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The cottage is only a few miles off the motorway through small lanes and is fairly easy to get to. It backs on to the owners property with views over the countryside. At night you can sit out and watch the stars and not be disturbed by anything, only the sound of owls. The property is of good quality and well maintained. The owners are close at hand and willing to help with any problems or queries. It is in a beautiful area and a pleasure to drive or walk through. There are local villages 2 or 3 miles away with some great pubs and places a little further afield well worth a visit. Veronica supplied us with files of places to visit including a great drive to Hay-on wye. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet retreat in the country while not to far from other towns. Ross-on wye is about an 8 mile drive and has supermarkets to stock up and to refuel your car. Symonds Yat is also worth visiting for a boat trip and pub lunch. You are not far from Hereford and Gloucester so plenty to do. The property can accommodate 4 people and dogs but we got a discount as we travelled as a couple.
