Stumbled upon The Peacock by accident as we were staying nearby. Thinking it was just a normal pub we called in for a drink on a Friday night, being very impressed with the hospitality we booked a table for the following evening. After a long day exploring Matlock we arrived on Saturday for the fining dining menu and very fine it was. After being seating the the bar area by the roaring fire we sampled the wines and selected from a menu heavy on locally produced food. Dinner was served in a separate dining room and each course was delicious with small tasters presented between each one. The pheasant and local steak were pariculary good. Excellent wine list and cheese board and the desert sampler board was wonderful.
I'd definately recommend.
