“A perfect wedding venue for a perfect day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2010

East Lodge was the first venue we visited in February when our daughter and her fiancee set a wedding date. All other alternatives visited paled in comparison .We met with Charlotte who from our very first visit gave us confidence that the smallest detail would be addressed and that the wedding plans would progress without stress or worry and the wedding day would be the culmination of perfect organisation, collaboration and would be everything we wished for. On each visit we were greeted with care and friendliness and came away feeling that we mattered, we were not just another booking! The wedding day was perfect..the hotel was entirely at our disposal and there was no intrusion from anyone not attending our wedding. Charlotte and Emma's organisation was 'seamless.' The wedding service was held in the hotel in a room overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside views. The wedding reception followed and when the starter was served the buzz word around the room was wow! The meal was absolutely excellent, mouthwatering and served in style. Anyone with special dietary requirements were served without fuss as prearranged.
The evening buffet included hot and cold food all beautifully presented and served. The evening disco was well organised and run and requests were all played alongside music for all ages and tastes. Those of us staying overnight enjoyed luxurious and well equipped rooms with most comfortable beds in a peaceful setting to reflect on and savour one of the best days of our lives. Breakfast was a further culinary joy and our orders for cooked breakfast were carefully served by Emma and Dominic with precise timing so everything was eaten whilst hot and appetising i.e no horrors of cold toast etc.
Our whole family have no hesitation in highly recommending East Lodge as the ideal venue within the most beautiful setting for the most perfect wedding day.
We congratulate the management and staff for their sheer professionalism and consistently high standards of care and support throughout the process of collaboration and planning for our special wedding day.
I would just like to add one constructive suggestion and that is re the departure of the wedding guests who stay in the hotel overnight. We all experienced a need to allow enough time for gathering together before departure to reflect on the previous day's events over a coffee and without pressure. We felt that perhaps this time could be prearranged taking account of the hotel timetable of events of the day and therefore departure could be unhurried but with an agreed departure time

This hotel was everything we wanted in a hotel for a short break of 5 days. Cosy, clean, good decor, good food and very well staffed.

The staff were so friendly and well mannered. They couldn't do enough for you, no request was too small. Their patience was endless, even with the most awkward of customers.

The food was michelin style excellence and very, very fresh. The breakfast menu was extensive.

Our room was spacious and nicely decorated. The onsuite bathroom had both bath and shower with a television screen on the wall so that you could relax in a hot bubble bath while watching TV.

After a tiring day out enjoying ourselves it was great to come back to 'tea and freshly made scones' in the conservatory.

The grounds were well kept and beautifully planted, great for an after dinner walk. After dark the garden was lit with multi-coloured spotlights.

Some people might think it a little expensive but you definitely got value for your money. After all, you only get what you pay for.

We came home very relaxed, no stress or tension the whole week, we just felt pampered. Exactly what we went away for.

We would most definitely recommend this hotel.

Will we go back? The answer is yes, as often as we can.

What a brilliant find ! I had booked this hotel for just one night, and as soon as we drove in, i knew i had chosen well. Beautifully manicured gardens, someone to greet you at the door to take you to the reception. The charming receptionist booked us in, and then we were taken up and showed around our room. It was a lovely four poster room beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. It had everything in it you could possibly need. We had dinner there that evening, starting with pre dinner drinks in the bar, which arrived with a selection of homemade nibbles. Dinner was lovely, small portions, but beautifully presented, and perfectly cooked. Nice extra touch to finish off the evening, was a long list of dvd films to choose from, to watch in your room. Breakfast was great, huge choice, and again beautifully presented. We were off to Chatsworth for the day, and if you let the receptionist know, you can buy your tickets via the hotel, they are a few pounds cheaper, and you can beat the queues. All in all, i would recommend this hotel, all the staff were well trained, proffesional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, and we would definately stay there again .

We stayed here for my birthday as it was close to Chatsworth House. First impressions was a beautifully maintained garden and house with a roomy spacious carpark. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist who took us to our room and showed us around. The room was lovely with tons of character. We felt easy and free to walk the grounds and sit in their gorgeous gardens. We had a champagne tea which was amazing, and really good value for money. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the room or gardens, and then went into their restaurant for dinner. The food was fantastic. We started off with home cooked crisps in the bar, then on the table we had a complementary pre-appetiser. Followed by a starter which looked and tasted amazing, following on to the main, dessert and coffee. The service from all staff throughout was amazing. The food was really the highlight though. Definitely recommended.

Food was superb and beautifully presented. The staff were very attentive. They paid special attention to the requirements of our non-meat eating friends and they were knowledgeable about special diets. The grounds are well-kept. It was lovely wandering round the gardens. If you get chance, sit at a table overlooking the beautiful pond which is subtly lit in the evening and then have coffee (or other drinks) in the conservatory. A perfect place to stay when visiting Chatsworth House which is close by.

My husband and I got married at East Lodge last August (2009) and what can we say but WOW and it was out of this world. The staff were fantastic and the service was out of this world and nothing was to much trouble. The warm hospitality was amazing and we went back to share our first aniversary with them and it was great to see everyone again and once again our stay was out of this world and nothing was to much trouble. I do not know what it wrong with people that slate this venue becuase they must need glasses
Our wedding was the fairy tale we expected and evrything was perfect and the staff are so friendly and will do anything for you
Keep up the good work and we have been back a few times to visit our friends and everything was perfect and we have made some good friends as well

Thank you for making our first anniversary so special xx

My Husband and I chose East Lodge as our wedding venue this year, after looking at lots of different places (far too many!), East Lodge was the very last place we looked at and we were so glad we did.....we were not disappointed! From the very first time we drove up the long sweeping driveway leading to the Hotel, up until a year later on our wedding day, Iain and all the team looked after us in every single way. The Hotel is set in beautiful surroundings, and the rooms are all tastefully decorated and in keeping with the hotel itself. We were lucky enough to get married in the wedding pavilion outside, which made our day extra special. Our wedding guests were saying how impressed they were with the venue; it definitely has the 'wow' factor, just what we were looking for! The food was also amazing, from the beautifully crafted canapés to the gorgeous roast beef dinner, to the evening buffet & the full Derbyshire breakfast served in the room overlooking the delightful gardens, everything was just perfect. We would not hesitate in recommending having your wedding at East Lodge, it is the ultimate wedding venue!
