We are so happy we decided to have our daughter's wedding at Lake Crackenback.
Our wedding guests loved the accomodation, the activities and the beautiful scenery. Crackenback staff were all so friendly and helpful. The ceremony site in the resort grounds was just a picture. The reception was great. Cuisine looked amazing with the lights over the water to the far side of the lake and candles around the windows. The meal was delicious definitely the best wedding meal I have ever had. The morning after the wedding we all met at the Alpine Larder for breakfast and it was great. Thank you Crackenback for a wonderful wedding. I wish I had another daughter so we could do it all again.

Dear Jane

Fantastic your daughter had an amazing wedding here for their special day at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa.

I have passed your comments on to all our staff, as we do work hard on service levels, attention to detail and focusing on our valued guests.

Our 150 acres of grounds are very loved and serviced by Bruce our "Garden Gnome" (Grounds Manager) who has been tested to the limits with recent floods, snow and extreme heat, yet still produces an amazing setting.

Cuisine Restaurant menus have just changed in time for winter and your wedding experienced and fantastic menu sprinkled with local offerings overlooking Lake Crackenback and the mountain backdrop. Alpine Larder is our new 2nd restaurant, offering that relaxed casual dining in modern facilities.

We welcome you all back as valued return guests soon. Feel free to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to hear latest news

Kind regards

I enjoyed our stay at Lake Crackenback. If you are blessed with anything like the weather we enjoyed, it is a lovely place to stay. The photos on tripadviser do not lie!

Is the location good?
Yes, dependent upon why you are here. It is very scenic, particularly if you have an apartment right on the lake (which it seems most are). If you are visiting during ski season there is a close proximity to the ski tube, but we were there for a work conference so it was for the serenity! I love the walks that you can do along the creek, and the views.

What is the room like?
It was pleasant. Things are a little worn, but by no means bad. I had a very pleasant night’s sleep. We were in a 2 BR apartment, and the bedroom that faced onto the lake was gorgeous.

But are the beds comfortable?
Fine, in a not terribly remarkable way.

What was the food like?
The food was pretty good for a conference facility. Higher than average I would say, particularly the dinner in the restaurant. The other meals weren't anything particularly special, but definitely in the mid-level of conference catering I have experienced. The staff and service was pretty good, and I appreciated having Nespresso coffee machines rather than the horrible coffee you typically get at conference venues.

Was it quiet?
Yes, very.

Anything special?
The location, on a nice sunny autumn day, is absolutely brilliant.

Dear DadTravelOrganiser

Thanks for your fantastic feedback regarding Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. You are correct if sunny it is a beautiful place, in fact in all weather conditions it is fantastic.

We have apartments around Lake Crackenback as stated and a large number of luxury chalets and studio's through out the exterior of the 150 acre property overlooking the breath taking ranges.

Cuisine Restaurant is our fine dining restaurant and run by award winning chef Greg Pieper who designs the seasonal menu just updated for Autumn

Feel free to keep up to date with the resort on both Twitter and Facebook. We look forward to welcoming you back soon as a return guest

Eleven days on Lake Crackenback in March 2012 what could be better? The weather, that's what, but overall we had a great stay. I'll start with the negatives and end on a good note so please read to the end. On arrival there was a delay with the booking, seems they had lost it, so instead of a one bedroom unit, we had a two bedroom, which was great. There were a few issues with the room. When we came in I thought there were no dishes because the dishwasher hadn't been unloaded and when I opened the dishwasher drawer the rubber seal came out. The toilet flushers on both toilets always stuck and the TV reception was non-existant. We were meant to have a mid-stay clean, which never happened even though we enquired twice. The cleaner later apologized and arranged for a club cleaning credit. Because it was so wet and our planned walks were foiled we decided to go to the gym. Unfortunately, a lot of the equipment was broken. The restaurant food was superb, however, as the advantage plus discount had restrictions and minimums we didn't eat there as much as we normally would.
We had a great time on a segway tour and the kayaks and we were looking forward to trying all the available activities but it was mostly too wet. Hubby caught impressive trout on the lake, so we ate lots of fish. We braved the rain and had some beautiful walks. The weather added some interesting photo opportunities, expecially with the beautiful lake surrounds and the magnificent misty mornings. Great position for exploring Thredbo, Kosciuszko and Jindabyne. Would we go there again? Definately. The resort has tons to offer and has magnificent surrounds and wildlife, we were just unlucky with the weather. Hopefully next time we will get to experience the resort to its full potential.

Dear DeeR1111

Thank you for your feedback about your recent 11 day experience at lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. We always welcome both negative and positive feedback so we are constantly looking at the way we do things and striving to improve.

Unfortunately you arrived at a bad weather period which NSW experienced, however that does not excuse some of the issues mentioned. Our House Keeper Maureen met you onsite as mentioned and apologised for the inconveniences personally and Maintenance fixed the flushing issue. Regarding tghe gym, the rowing machine had a broken wire, which has now been rectified by purchasing brand new Life Fitness gear for the gym.

Fantastic that you loved Cuisine and rated it superb, Greg Pieper is our award winning Exec Chef.

Your statement re the trout backs up our activities of constantly restocking the lake for guests to catch and eat or catch and release.

No matter the conditions the grounds have stod up well, especially since we received over 450mm over the period of your stay and staff who have been here over 15 years had never seen rain like that.

We would love to see you again which is how you finished your feedback. please feel free to follow us on Twitter or Facebook for latest news

Nice room, with modern kitchen, new appliances and large open shower. But the lounge area did feel a bit pokey. Having a platinum studio chalet we were expecting "stunning mountain views", and either a deck with BBQ or spa bath - we got none of these! However, the upstairs chalet did have a spa that was located right next to our bedroom window - fortunately they did not use it while we were there.
All the staff were extremely helpful and it was a shame that we didn't have more time to enjoy all the facilities that the resort had to offer. I would thoroughly recommend both Cuisine and the Alpine Larder - excellent food and service.

Thank you to the team at Lake Crackenback for a wonderful weekend. We chose the resort for a secret retreat for our flock of birds at birdsnest.com.au and they loved it! They all came back feeling very refreshed and treated.....

We were there for 2 nights and nothing was a problem - all the Crackenback team were delightful. They made us feel so relaxed and at home - we had the best fun in the Cuisine Restaurant on Friday dancing well into the night. With the combination of great accommodation, yummy food, spectacular spa facilities, beautiful grounds and friendly staff - it was the perfect place to retreat and bond!

I am sure many birds will return with extended families and friends now they have discovered this local asset within their reach.

Please read review to the end!
In February 2012 I stayed here witha bunch of ladies for a hens wknd, a few things went wrong...we did not get the Chalet we requested (and told on request we would receive), instead we got what seemed to be the 'party house', the spa, oven and heater all broken, scratches on the floor boards, lets just say we were dissapointed!

When I came home I emailed feedback in a 'constructive criticism' way, I received a very prompt apologetic response, after investigations into our matters, the Manager of the resort was devastated for us, arranging for all of us to return as we saw fit at half price. I found a wknd to return with my partner and I must say - WHAT A TURN AROUND! Every appliance worked, the chalet was immaculate, the service just amazing. I honestly cannot say a bad word.

Although first impression are known to last, Scott (Manager), would NOT let us leave with a dissapointing impression. Staff went above and beyond to make up for what happened, and still seemed devastated that they did not get it right the first time.

I since have recommended friends to go and they have all had amazing experiences. Its not just because they were trying to make up for one bad experience.

Kudos to LCB Resort. A job well done! We will certainly be returning.

Room Tip: There is no noise between chalet and studios, they are both very private!

We have stayed at this resort on numerous occasions in various different apartments. The 3-bedroom/2 bathroom apartment (No. 18) we shared on this visit with our extended family was quite comfortable, but showing its age and is in need of some renovation. Some of the venetian blinds didn't open/close; lighting was out in the laundry; the kitchen cupboards and bench tops are marked/scratched; the cooktop and oven are old. The resort facilities have improved with the addition of a casual cafe/restaurant and new segway tours. Although somewhat over-priced, we would return to the resort and ask for a different apartment on a further visit.

Dear Canberra Traveller

Thank you for your feedback which we have passed on to the owner of the Unit. We very much appreciate positive and constructive feedback which we take very seriously.

I have had discussions with Maintenance and House Keeping Managers to find out why these issues raised themselves as we do pride ourselves on quality of rooms, service, food, spa, activities and customer experiences which is evident from the your multiple visits, which unfortunately we fell down on this occasion.

The blinds and light globe have since been rectified.

You are correct, we have opened our gorgeous new Alpine Larder Cafe which specialises in casual dining including pizza's, tapas and local cuisine. Additionally our resort has purchased 5 new Segways taking our fleet to 10 and 20 new GIANT Mountain Bikes offering the latest technology for our guests to use on our extensive mountain bike and walking trails.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
