Unicornia Azul is a wonderful place to ride, relax, and have wonderful meals provided by the hostal. The horses are beautiful, helathy and well beloved by the owners. The riding is superb and I ended up staying tow days longer than I planned...bring warm clothes, the mountain nights can be chilly:-)

I have been to the Unicornio Azul twice. It is beautiful, remote, the air is different, the landscape is like nothing else I have seen in Guatemala. Big fires, mountain air, delicious food, a sunny porch and the horses. I took friends who hardly even went out of the city and watched them transformed as they became more confident on horseback. Pauline and Fernando give back to the local community, introducing recycling schemes, promoting traditional architecture, investing in a local youth group and library. They are wonderful hosts. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful. But there is a cottage separate from the main house that would perhap...

We had an awesome time horse back riding on this ranch in Huehuetenango. The horses were very well cared for and Pauline, the owner, took the time to match each of us with the right one. We went riding on mountain trails and through small Guatemalan towns. It was interesting seeing up close from a horse how people live in that area of Guatemala. I would definitely go back!

I have been to this unique Posada for several times over the last 7 years on my motorcycle. The scenery surrounding the Posada is idylic . The posada is run by a french-guatemalan couple : they both try to make your stay as pleasant as possible . The rooms are simple but big and they don't miss anything . Due to the cold climate at night , you have a lot of woolen handwoven blankets and before bedtime you get a hot waterbottle that keeps your bed warm until the next morning.
The food is good home made stuff , served by candlelight and shared with the owner couple.
The big attraction of the place are the horses , and the daily ride , guided by Pauline.
I have been there with friends and with family, and I always left with the hope, to come back soon.
