The Parc-en-Ciel offers outdoor activities for all the family and especially forest adventure trails. At the Parc-en-Ciel you can climb in the tree tops, sweep down giant tyroliens and, for a small supplement, play at mini-golf...

Parc-en-Ciel is an adventure parc where various leisure activities are possible; Tree climbing, midget/mini golf, swimming, playgrounds for kids etc. Nice and spacious set up in the area of the very French village of Lacapelle-Biron (several restaurants). A parc that is also recommendable in high summer (30°C possible!) as there is enough shade in differents areas of the parc itself.
The tree climbing activity is an important part of it, where you can start - even the little amongst us - from 5/6 years old on to try the "Pitchoun" circuit and so on till the socalled "black" level for the experienced and/or coureagous. These different levels and required "heights" are well indicated on the website.
For your lunch there are several spacious areas where you can eat, either by paying yourself a "snack" in the restaurant or bring your own picknick and eat it in a shady place. Next to the climbing trees activity effectuated by us as a well equiped and secured Indiana Jones team in 2012 there will also be a large natural swimming pool and terrasses around.
Every time we go there (once or twice a year, and our children still think it is not enough ;-), it is a huge succes for children and adults (who feel 10 again hanging in a tree)!!! Look for tarifs on their website. Our family day out with 5 is nevertheless some of a budget: 80/90 euros. We also like to bring out our guests or friends staying with us in our private holiday hamlet Le Mayne de Boulede that is just a 15 minutes drive away.

We spent 10 days in the Dordogne region. Our kids (girl - age 12 and boy - age 14) were getting tired of wandering around "another castle." As a result, we took the advise of the caretakers of the place we were renting in Monpazier, which was right up the road from Parc-En-Ciel. We only planned to spend a couple of hours there, and then we were going to continue with our day. When we got there, the weather was perfect and it was quite crowded. We bought our tickets (20 euros each), and I thought that it was going to be a waste of time. Boy was I wrong!!! We did have to wait, but we had a snack from their snack bar (our lunch was packed in the car, which you can bring in) to pass the time. We were given detailed instructions (in English) and a trial, sample course to get the basics down. After that we were on our own! We started out with the medium course, which would be considered very difficult in the US. At that point we moved up a level (just below the hardest course for the experts and over age 16). Everyone but me made it through the course. I don't know how they did it considering what I had to do, but again I am afraid of heights and overcame them that day. By the end, we all zip-lined a lot; three courses that took about 45 minutes each were conquered; and we all had a fun, family adventure in the sky!!!

At first we thought the €20 per person was a little steep, but once my 10 yo son had seen the place there was no going back! That €20 buys each person the equipment hire, and 3.5 hours around the park. They werent too strict with this either as we were 20 minutes late and the staff didn't bat an eyelid!

The park is split into 4 difficulty levels, satisfying all ages from small children to one "run" for over 16's only. I didn't get a chance to do the over 16's run, but believe me the level below that was good fun, and a great way to burn off a few holiday calories!

For family members who arent so energetic there is plenty of space with picnic benches, and a cafe in the park itself.

Overall, it was very enjoyable, and when it broke down to a cost of roughly €5 per run which take around an hour each it was good value too.

One tip - not for vertigo sufferers!
