Just got back from an amazing Sunday Lunch. We all had beef with a huge yorkshire pud, red cabbage, carrots, parsnips and potatoes. To top it all off we had a stunning gingerbread pudding with clotted cream.

Service and food were great.

Well worth a visit!

Booked at short notice and thankfully they managed to fit us in. Have eaten here a number of times before and not been disappointed. Well tonight was as good as ever. Had a drink in the lively pub bar beforehand which set us up for our visit to the restaurant. A warm and friendly, but not at all patronising, welcome. The restaurant was busy and vibrant. We both had the Ham Hock for a starter and the Rump Steak for main course. Both courses were simply presented but beautifully cooked, a real pleasure. Baked Alaska and Spiced Pear Clafoutis for dessert - lovely. Service was attentive throughput but never intrusive. What a great night out just before Christmas! Thoroughly recommended.

We had booked a table for 10 for Sunday lunch on 2nd December. The service and food were excellent, although the restaurant was not full, our waitress was very efficient all food ordered was hot and of very good quality. We asked for more vegetables which was no problem. If we had taken notice of the previous reviews, we would not have gone, but this was booked through a friend and did not want to let them down, I am so glad we never cancelled, as all 10 of us would throughly recommend this restaurant, and will certainly go back.

Been here before more than 6 months ago and the quality and quantity of the lunchtime menu was much better then. Had the cheese and pickle sandwich today ( grated cheese was just visible) and that, apart from some greenery on the side, was all there was. £4.50 and 4 bites later it was gone. The brown bread was quite tasty but some tomatoes or cucumber on the side with a couple of crisps would have made it look more presentable. The other choices on the menu were more expensive and quite limited. The positives were a lovely fire and clean toiets. The staff were quite friendly and it has a really nice feel to the pub throughout. Hope they check out these reviews. I won't go back for food again.

I totally agree with the previous review we too visited for Sunday lunch yesterday and felt the quality and quantity of the roast was very poor, in fact it had deteriorated greatly since our last visit.it was the most expensive Sunday lunch we have ever had and by far the worst, half a shrivelled carrot and parsnip, toough chewy beef, the best thing about the meal was the yorkshire pudding, we will definately not be returning
