“Lovely, cozy, hot tub lodge”
Reviewed December 16, 2016 for a stay in December 2016

We had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights in Curlew Lodge. I really cannot fault it at all. Cozy, clean, well stocked, amazing views, amazing hot tub, there were even a collection of DVD's and books to really help unwind. We did really want to stay longer but had to get back for other commitments.

Neil and Jennie the owners had even left a freshly baked chocolate cake in the kitchen for us upon arrival.

The local pubs were excellent, and a nice stroll away, and the peace and quiet is simply brilliant with 2 beautiful national parks on the doorstep.

We cannot wait to go back and will be booking another break very very soon.

Thank you Neil and Jennie. Your place is simply magical.

“Perfect Getaway”
Reviewed November 23, 2016 for a stay in November 2016

A fantastic place to stay, nothing is too much trouble.

This was our second visit to the lodges. After a 7 year gap we were very pleased to find the lodges were even better. On arrival we found the lodge was warm and some lights on. We were welcomed with a welcome pack. which was a personalised welcome card, Tea & coffee, Home made cake and fresh flowers.
As we were traveling with our 10 month old baby, Neil & Jennie had included and setup everything we needed for him (High Chair, Cot, Bedding, Steriliser and bottled water) Which was fantastic.
The lodge was a very comfortable place to stay and very clean. Everything you could think of was in the lodge, and I'm sure if you found there was something you needed Neil and Jennie would of been more than happy to help.
The outside hot tub was amazing at night, and not over looked.
After our stay, we were travelling home and had a sudden realization that we had left the steriliser in the microwave full of bottles. So we contacted Neil & Jennie and they found them and posted them back asap which we could not thank them enough.

Definitely the place to stay, cant wait to go back again. Hopefully a lot sooner.

“Family weekend break”
Reviewed November 3, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Neil and jennie couldn't of been anymore helpful if they tried! I spoke with Neil often before arriving, I explained we were staying as my brother wouldn't be here for xmas and on arrival to the lodge there was a xmas tree and stockings which was a lovely touch. Also the welcome card, lots of nice little touches!
The lodge itself lapwing was fabulous, very spacious, very warm threw out the stay the hottub was enjoyed by all the kids loved it. We also used the bbq. We did some lovely walks and had a really nice meal at the black Swan would highly recommend.
It was a very quite area which was what we were after. We had plenty of towels in each room, dvds were also in the lodge. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you needed
Will definitely return

“Cosy lodges in a lovely setting”
Reviewed October 24, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Cosy Scandinavian style lodges in a quiet location overlooking the Howgill Fells. Situated about a mile up a single track road on the edge of the Howgills these are an excellent spot for walkers or bird spotters. Lots of wildlife around with Red Squirrels in the grounds (and of course plenty of sheep - it is Cumbria after all!).
We've been visiting these since the 1980's and the lodges have been recently updated with new bathrooms and hot tubs on the veranda.
Good pubs in the nearby village (within a mile or two's easy walk), direct access to the Fells (much of which is now open access land) or 40 - 60 mins by car to the Lake District, Pennine AONB or Yorkshire Dales make this a great base for a holiday.

“Our autumn break at Curlew lodge”
Reviewed October 19, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We went for a few nights with our teenage boys last week & had a superb time. The lodge was excellent & the hottub with special lighting was a touch of sheer class. The hosts made us so welcome with a lovely cake & fresh flowers! Would DEFINITELY recommend.

“Exceeded All Expectations!”
Reviewed July 3, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

What a pleasant surprise this place was. Totally peaceful surroundings in a wonderful setting, the only audible sounds were the birds singing all day long. We stayed in Curlew lodge which was exceptional in every way. The other two lodges were a very respectable enough distance away to give us peace, privacy and freedom to do as we wished without disturbing anyone else.
It was very welcoming with a card and homemade cake. There was tea, coffee, milk, sugar and every condiment necessary to accommodate our stay even down to balsamic vinegar, every utensil and more. Fresh quality towel bales per person which included an extra one for the hot tub (there were 6 of us) and quality bathroom products. The terrace out the back had the hot tub and patio are with a high end barbecue and patio furniture to seat all of us.
The bedrooms were lovely and very comfortable. The decoration throughout was fabulous and I cannot prase this lodge enough. We had a short stroll to the local pub which was very friendly and the sunday roast was to die for!
This is the perfect place for a peaceful getaway
Thankyou Neil and Jen for the hospitality and we will definitely return.
