“Unwind. Recharge.”
Reviewed July 6, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

After a long flight from Canada (and a 7-hour jet lag), Amari Villas has been our first stop in Crete to unwind and recharge. What a great decision! A newly renovated ‘’luxurious’’ and traditional style villa (if you can opt for Villa Idi - the one with a private pool - it’s a real plus) with a splendid view on the mountains where you feel a refreshing breeze, you can admire beautiful sunsets, and you can hear the goats climbling up and down.

You’ll recieve a warm welcome by Manolis, the owner, who’ll give you a quick tour of the Villa and some suggestions. You’ll also meet Mrs. Rumy, a lovely ladie who lives in her appartment next to the Villas and who’ll take care of you, like your mom would :-), from the moment you arrive until you leave. Forget about going to the restaurant, she has a great menu and she cooks with local and fresh ingredients. Very delicious !

All in all, that’s a must !

“Perfect family”
Reviewed May 3, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Crete. From the beginning of the holiday when we landed and followed Manolis' very descriptive and precise directions, to the greeting we received when we arrived at the villa, we could not have felt more welcome. The villa is situated in a beautiful location with amazing views of the snowy topped mountain and the valley.
Mrs.Rumy, the housekeeper, was the warmest and most helpful person you could ask for, she cooked for us twice during our stay and the meals were delicious!
We visited some fantastic gorges, walked 500 steps to an unusual palm tree forrest on the beach, saw an ancient minoan palace, went snorkelling in crystal clear waters and drove down some of the most hair raising mountain roads. It was a holiday we will never forget and thoroughly enjoyed making some amazing memories.
Thank you Manolis and Mrs.Rumy x

“Fantastic stay in beautiful villa”
Reviewed October 31, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We have recently returned from a fantastic break at Villa Idi. The villa has been restored to the most beautiful standard and is set in a lovely peaceful location. From booking the villa Manolis who owns the property was brilliant providing all of necessary information and after arrival he was a wonderful host visiting us and making us feel very welcom and at home, we spend an afternoon with his family and friends at a Raki distillery party which is an experience we will never forget. The house keeper was on hand to help us with any queries and she cooks fantactic meals if required. The area is fantastic for walking and hiking and also not too far to lovely beaches. We also spend a lovely day in Rethymnon which is about half an hour away and definitely worth a visit. Can't recommend the villa highly enough - fantastic holiday.

Beautiful place in the mountains. A bit far from the city and all other tourists. Perfect for couple/ family who wants privacy, or group of friends that wants to have fun and.

“A Wonderful Experience”

We recently spent four nights at Villa Idi. It was one of four properties that we stayed at while touring Crete and Naxos. We travelled with another couple and we all agreed that it was by far our favourite.

From the beginning, Manolis (the owner) was so helpful. His directions and Villa information were thorough and easy to follow and understand. How he got the wild goats to appear at the exact time that he told us to look out for them in the directions is a fun mystery. He was also a great source of information about the local area directing us to some places that we may not have discovered on our own.

The Villa is beautiful and lovingly restored with 3 bedrooms plus a loft, two full bathrooms, a kitchen, living area and an amazing terrace with a pool. It is peacefully surrounded by beautiful mountains. The pictures do not do it justice. When we arrived there was a variety of goodies waiting for us in the kitchen. Such a nice touch. The villa is in a quiet valley centrally located for exploring the beautiful villages and beaches in the surrounding area.

All of this was lovely but the jewel of the villa is Mrs. Rumy. She is the onsite housekeeper who will help you if you have any questions. She is also an amazing cook. Prior to arriving you will receive a menu of the items that she can prepare for you. Before arriving we thought we might have her cook one or two nights. The first night we had the best lamb that we have ever had along with a smoked eggplant salad, potatoes, and yogurt with sour cherries for dessert. That sealed it, we asked her to cook every night for us and they were the best meals of our trip. She has an apartment close by and would help when needed but was careful to respect our privacy. It was wonderful to have a friendly face to greet us with a delicious meal after we returned from exploring each day. We were sad to say goodbye to Mrs. Rumy.

It was such a special experience that we are thinking of returning next year to explore the parts of Crete that we did not get to see this trip. Eight days is not enough on this beautiful island. For sure we will start our next trip by recharging our batteries at this beautiful and peaceful Villa.
