Shown to our room and around the hotel by very friendly reception staff. King size bed in a large room. Tea/coffee/biscuit facilities. Totally unmarked decor, carpets, paintwork spotless. Pleased to see the shower was efficient and the room also had a bath with fluffy white towels.
View from one of our double windows , at the back of hotel, stretched for miles across field upon field on rolling countryside. Extremely quiet room, no door slamming. Breakfast either in a light and airy conservatory or in the main part. This was delivered swiftly and was extremely tasty, using local produce.
Double glazing and our windows fully opened to keep room cool during very sunny week away. Duvet on bed but this was removed and the cotton cover came in handy, this was full size, which was unusual, and much appreciated, although the room was not at all stuffy.
33 or 32 bus service runs opposite the hotel by the triangle and runs every hr. Brilliant for spending a day out in Gloucester/Ross on wye or Hereford, saves having to search for parking space.

As so many people have said, this is a lovely hotel. The staff are delightful, the food is very good and the views are stunning. It's on a main road, but our room was at the back looking out over miles of countryside and we never heard the traffic. Our room was comfortable, although this is the first time since student days that I have experienced an electric shower, which wasn't great.

I'd have given it five stars for the fact that it's a three star hotel, but little things let it down. Most of the staff are very young - they are fabulous and very willing but they got several orders completely wrong (always put right with great willingness) and even forgot to make up our bedroom. So management please take note. However, we would stay there again as it's lovely and excellent value too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.

Myself, my husband and our 10 month old son stayed at The Pilgrim Hotel for 2 nights in July and it was absolutely lovely. The hotel provided a cot bed for our son with a baby duvet, which was great and saved us travelling with the extra luggage. Additionally the evening table and breakfast table was always ready and waiting (with highchair!) for us and the table had beautiful views of the valley. If you come stay at this hotel, please try the restaurant as the food really was tasty and at a really good price. My husband and I actually had the same meal twice in a row as we enjoyed it so much. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly and made us really feel at home for the 2 nights that we were there and they were so genuinely nice to our son that he could not stop smiling the whole time he was there! The hotel is surrounded by beautiful views and not far for all the great attractions in Herefordshire. I would definitely go back there again and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a nice, relaxed and friendly hotel.

We booked this stay through Mighty deals. We did try to arrange a visit for a while but it was difficult to find rooms on weekends. At one point we did try to cancel it but received no help from Mighty deals, so very dismayed about the assistance from the voucher company, but glad now that we didn't cancel it.

The hotel is located right next to A49 so getting there was easy, and it is surrounded by idyllic Wye valley countryside. The car park is spacious considering the hotel has 20 rooms. The main building where the reception, lounge, offices are located, are quite old but the normal guest rooms are located on an annex. We were offered a ground floor valley view room, for which we paid extra £10 per night but it was well worth it.

The staff were very nice and we were really pleased how they made us feel welcome to the place. After a quick hassle free check-in, as all the paperwork were ready beforehand and we only needed a short form to fill in, we were ushered to our room. We did not book any luxury rooms, but our room were really spacious and with an amazing view. The bear on the bed was a nice touch and we brought it home at the end of our stay.

The lawn behind the hotel is lush green and you get an amazing view of the valley beyond the trees. There are chairs, parasols as well as decking at the restaurant/bar area where you can spend a perfect afternoon. You can borrow croquet sets and/or other games which are kept next to the reception.

Coming to the restaurant, the staff are very welcoming and kind, always serve you with a smile. The restaurant seating area is all glass panelled where you have a feeling of having the dinner outdoor. You can sit out in the decking after meal for desserts/drink. The drink prices are reasonable. Service at the restaurant is very prompt and the food is brilliant. In the mornings, they offer cooked as well as continental breakfast and food is always fresh and tasty.

The only negative point we could add is when someone occupies the room above you, if you are staying in the downstairs room, you can hear the floorboards creaking when they are walking, and even hear them talk. As the guest rooms looked to be an annex to the main building, we don't understand why the floorings were not done to present standards. However, it did not bother us to the slightest.

As a whole, we did enjoy our stay in the hotel and will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a country break, we loved it and will definitely go there in future.

Room Tip: Choose an upstairs room with the valley view

What a great hotel in a stunning area with fantastic vistas. Wonderful staff and easy check in gave the weekend a perfect start. Staff were helpful and attentive at all times and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday night after being unable to find a good looking local pub, what a treat that was. it was some of the most flavorsome food that I have eaten. Easily the best food I have had for some time. Smart dining room and outside decking area for meals and drinks. The room was spotless with everything that we needed the bed was comfortable. Everyone member of staff seemed to do every job, we can speak very highly of Jodie who was a marvel and a joy to talk too. All the staff were a credit to the owner. Only a small gripe but rooms could do with A/C or fans during the hot weather. We are already planning to return. It is a good base for touring the area.

Room Tip: rooms at the back have the best views
