“THE PERFECT PILGRIM HOTEL (ALMOST)”

A charming hotel, with spacious rooms and wonderful views over the lovely grounds to the Wye Valley. The weather was frosty and cold and it felt like walking into a Christmas card with the inglenook fire and pretty Christmas tree. The Reception Team are warm and welcoming and the Housekeepers cheerful and helpful. We dined in the hotel on our second evening and the meal was delicious, the venison cooked to perfection and the toffee pudding and sauce is absolutely gorgeous.

Our two dogs were made very welcome and enjoyed the lovely grounds.

The only issue, and it is a minor one, was the size of the television. The rooms are large and the television is too small.

We shall definitely return in the New Year! Can't wait!

Room Tip: We were allocated a ground floor room because we had our two dogs with us however, this suited us pe...

This was a two nights for two people bargain deal which we had to cancel first time as our cat was ill, but the hotel very kindly offered alternative dates which was brilliant.
We thought we might be in one of the few rooms without the stunning views but we had a lovely room with views and a very comfy bed, plus armchair and desk to do a bit of work at; perfect!
Food was good, reasonably priced, sensible quantities and served with charm.
We visited Symonds Yat with the glorious views and walks in the forest plus Butterfly Zoo, as well as Hereford Cathedral which has an awesome amount of history on display.
All in all a wonderful break.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. I booked this hotel through Moneysupermarket.com for my wife's birthday treat. We were not disappointed as the staff were fabulous, very helpful and enthusiastic to let you know places to visit. The Hotel is not far from the Wales border so we took the opportunity and visited Monmouth. Forest of Dean, Ross-on-Wye and for Hereford we had to be there for the Cathedral.
The hotel is nicely sited, quiet and beautiful scenery.

Room Tip: Back room for the scenery but wouldn't know how popular the hotel is. Front room and you get the...

We recently had our Christmas Party at the Pilgrim Hotel,WOW what a meal. All three courses were first class, plenty of it, hot, and very tasty including the lush desserts. When you are running a hotel and you have got increased numbers the Pilgrim staff certainly know how to cope and make everyones visit very enjoyable. Pat, Jo and the other members of staff are a credit to the Pilgrim, they all go the extra mile. Well done to you all. Ian & Sue Phillips

We stayed here for a 2 night break in October, we chose this hotel because it was close to Hereford and the reviews were good. It was a lovely weekend, the weather was good, the food was excellent, it's in a beautiful setting and we had a lovely ground floor room overlooking the gardens at the back, with superb views. The staff were all very pleasant too.
Hereford is a beautiful city and we enjoyed our visit to the Cathedral and The Weir, a National Trust garden. We also visited Ross-on Wye & Hay-on-Wye, the surrounding countryside is beautiful, we will certainly visit this area again and we would recommend a stay at The Pilgrim.

Room Tip: Ask for a valley view room

My wife and I had a weekend away here taking advantage of an internet offer and the fact that was a part of the country we had not visited before and as luck would have it the weather was even kind to us. The hotel is in a lovely setting and we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room which was of a good size with the usual amenities one would expect. My only criticism is that there is a slightly dated feel to the furnishings however this has been pointed out in other reviews and it did not spoil our time here.

The hotel catering is first class contrary to a few reviews on this site, we had breakfast on both days and it was freshly cooked and of a very good quality served by extremely pleasant staff, however the jewel in the crown was eating in the evening from the a la carte menu, to say it was superb is an understatement and also very competitely priced. We rounded off our evenings in the very comfy bar. All in all a very pleasant weekend away and I would have no hesitation in staying and eating here again if I was in the area.

We went to this hotel for a relaxing weekend break and we got just what we wanted. It's in a lovely quiet setting, with amazing views, some lovely walks, local to Ross- on- Wye and Hereford town center.
They were very friendly helpful and the hotel was just perfect. The food was amazing everything fresh, home cooked and plenty of it. (even for the hearty eater).
We would recommend to all, and hope to return.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with seating or pay for the upgrade, it's worth it
