The Seagrille is just down the road so we have been many times. It is the upscale restaurant attached to the hotel and spa. Brentwood Bay cannot sustain a fine dining establishment. The Seagrille must largely depend on the hotel and spa clientelle. As the seasons and occupancy levels fluctuate so goes the fortunes of the restaurant. When the hotel is busy and bustling then the Seagrille becomes unbeatable. It catches the enthusiasm and is at the top of its game. Unfortunately, when its quiet, it appears to lose interest and both quality and service suffer. That's probably why it gets such variable reviews.
Part of the hotel complex is an adjacent pub which shares the Seagrille kitchen. The pub does extremely well and is always popular. We visited the Seagrille on a Sunday evening in early December. There were only four tables occupied. The ambiance cannot be faulted. Decked out for Christmas it was warm and inviting. The setting is top class. The staff and the service was impeccable. Unfortunately, although only four tables, we were told that there were no braised bison ribs left and that they were down to one serving of the rack of lamb.
One of our party ordered the crab cakes as a starter and discovered that meant one crab cake, albeit a large one. At $20 it had to be quite exceptional and was declared to be very good indeed. The quality of service and of the food was high. Both the duck and the rack of lamb got full marks. Being West Coast, we pride ourselves on our wild salmon and our ability to cook it to perfection. Mine came overcooked which essentially means it was dry and that was a significant disappointment. The cost of the meal with wine for four was around $320 which one might expect for a fine dining hotel/spa restaurant.
As I started by saying - if its busy, in season and bustling then the Seagrille is right up there with the very best. If its quiet it seems to lose its fire, its enthusiasm and it can be a rather ordinary. Up and down, up and down.

This restaurant is in the Brentwood Bay Lodge. It faces the ocean so most seats have a great view of the marina and the ocean. It is a spectacular view. There were four of us and one of our group is gluten sensitive. The restaurant caters to those with celiac disease with special items on the menu and even served a basket of gluten free bread as well as regular bread. I thought this was very classy of the restaurant. Our service was great and we had the option of ordering from the restaurant, pub or sushi menu so lots of choice for everyone. The restaurant is not noisy with loud music nor over crowed with seating so it was a fun evening where we could hear each other without shouting and weren't bumped around with other parties getting in and out of their seating. This is a great place to go with friends to enjoy fabulous food in beautiful setting and have some good conversation. Highly recommended by us all!

I stayed at the resort for 4 nights and ate all my meals here. Overall the food was excellent. The service was amazing. We were in a large group and by lunch the first day they were calling us all by our first names. Not sure how they did that! There was only one meal that was not excellent but it was still good.

Recently spent Thanksgiving 2011 at the Brentwood resort.
It was to be a special treat but sadly fell short. The kayaking was
fine (staff practical -not warm) but it was the Seagrille restaurant
that was so disappointing.
Ambiance was west coast fresh and elegant but as soon as a much
discussed staff recommended bottle of white wine was opened we were
taken siege by fruit flies. When we asked for help as we swatted at
over a dozen our waitress brought out an open beer to distract them
mentioning that they were much worse with red wine, the number of
flies grew and our 3rd request for help( after we found one floating
in a full glass of wine) had the waitress handing us small white paper cocktail napkins
to cover our glasses saying all BC restaurants had flies as it was the
season. We had been dining in BC restaurants for 5 days, 3 meals a day
and this was the first we heard of it but were happy to have a
solution!
We all ordered the highly recommended Thanksgiving meal, waited well over an hour between soup and entree- 4of 5 entrees were clammy cold, overcooked and the dressing gelatinous while one was steaming hot, after working so hard to get any attention to solve the fly problem ( by then a spider- I kid you not!!- had dropped into one our party's water glass) we gave up .We paid the hefty bill and left. BTW the diner with
the fly in his wine was offered 3 oz of wine as replacement...
