“Quite a place!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

Stayed two nights in a "deluxe" room. One of the nicest properties we've visited. Beautiful view of the marina and bay. Two person jetted tub in bathroom is situated so you can enjoy the bay view while soaking.

The pub and restaurant have outdoor seating and many tables with a great view. Staff was very attentive. Friday night was very busy with locals.

Prices here aren't cheap but this is a quality place. Only issue for us was bathroom lighting. Don't really understand some of the earlier negative reviews. We would definitely return here.

It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay! The jacuzzi tub with shutters that open up to the living area with views of the bay is certainly a popular feature in the room. The next time you visit you should book a One Bedroom Suite with a side by side double soaker jacuzzi tub as well as a private hot tub on the balcony. We look forward to welcoming you back!

We loved staying here. We opened the door after checking in and had the view of the bay straight ahead of us. The sunsets are beautiful...be sure and take pics of them. The bed was very comfortable and jacuzzi soaking tub very relaxing with the green tea soak packets they provide. We were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary and my birthday! Upon arrival, there was a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice with 2 glasses on our table on the balcony!

The staff was very service oriented and helped give us directions to tourist sites, etc. I have a soy and gleuten food allergy and the chef went the extra mile to meet my needs! All 3 restaurants on property have views of the bay.

We took an ecoadventure tour one day and would strongly recommend it. We learned a lot. Paul was our captain and was a delight.

I would definitely recommend it!!

Excellent resort, staff friendly, suite was fantastic with a view of the bay, restaurant and pub & grill had great food and service. The suite had a jetted bath tub with a view of the bay. My wife and I had an awesome stay. Very close to Butchart Gardens and near Victoria.

This place was amazing. Very gorgeous view, amazing hotel room, quiet and comfortable. I loved the jetted tub.. very nice. It is only about a 25 minute drive to the inner harbour/fishermans wharf. The hotel is close to amenities but sort of secluded(in a good way). It was very quiet and relaxing. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is gorgeous! I cant wait to come back. Wewill definitely stay here again when we come back. The staff were all very nice as well. Breakfast was great! Supper was good too, but not amazing. Overall stay was excellent.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and the fact we are "off the beaten path" but still close to downtown Victoria and all of it's amenities. We're not a million miles away, it only feels like it. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to the resort.

So many good things to say about the resort... as others have said, don't be scared by the roadside appearance - the resort and rooms are excellent. We were in 207, a larger unit - I do wonder how much smaller the rooms are on the 3rd floor as they should have better views. By the way, we wouldn't get a unit with a number lower than '06', as the view would be at least partially blocked by tall trees, as well as being closer to the pool/hot tub and restaurant area.

Also a little odd that you get a slightly 'motel' feel, since all doors to the units are from the outside (parking lot side).

Just about everything is top-notch here. Service is very good, rooms are beautifully laid out - we especially liked the shutters that (when open) give you that wonderful view to the bay from the bathroom (including the large jetted tub!).

Would also recommend going for the turn-down service (between 6 and 8) - the room becomes a private oasis with the drapes drawn, relaxation music playing, and something extra left behind. The first night there were two pouches for soaking your feet, the next was something else I can't recall at the moment. One tea light candle is provided, along with matches. Made for a relaxing evening, although we were very happy to open up the drapes again to show off the view.

After we checked in (around 3:00), we went down to the 'beach' at low tide and found dozens and dozens of little crabs. From the dock walkway we spotted many starfish and jellyfish, just as Bianca at the front desk had mentioned. Our last time out on the dock my wife saw a seal or sea lion floating along, from a distance. Wish we had brought binoculars!

The restaurant was good, as was room service. Note the room service prices don't include tax or tip, so (as usual) it can add up quickly. Also if you order sake and are asked if you want 'hot' or 'cold' sake, go for the *hot* sake. The "cold sake" is really a 10% Japanese plum liquor, more like Kool-Aid, and not what we expected from sake. The 'hot' one was quite nice, even though it was a warm evening.

The fish & chips were very good - one giant piece of fish with very little batter to get in the way, and a nice tartar sauce. However, could have used more than one little lemon wedge for a piece of fish that size. Worth $20 + tax & tip? Boy...not sure on that one. I'm glad I tried it, but not quite sure it was worth that much. On the other hand, it was worth something to eat on the balcony enjoying the nice weather in private. Sushi and sashimi were done very well, too.

Highlights for us? Just the environment - with the balcony and the view, we really didn't feel like getting away somewhere else... just wanted to hang out and relax & enjoy. Felt like a special place. It was also kind of fun to watch the ferry coming and going (to Mill Bay - seems like a popular place based on the number of cars that were left behind each time).

Annoyances - there are a few, but mostly nitpicky/minor ones. Water pressure from the main steam-shower head was really low. Was nice to have the body jets, but those had no effect on the main showerhead water pressure. Also would be reasonable to include a bottle or water or two for free per night like some of our other favorite hotels. $2 per small bottle in the mini-bar wasn't outrageous, but just a little annoying. There's a water dispenser just outside the door to the pool. That's just about it, though, for gripes or complaints. Oh, it's odd that there's no printer on the guest computer, so you have to e-mail something (e.g., airline boarding passes) to the main resort e-mail address and they'll print it for you. Seemed like a little cheapness there that felt out of place.

Not much within walking distance to speak of, so a car is pretty much required if you want to get out and about. Although if you're there at the right time (June 1 to September some time) you can catch their early 'cruise' that would include a 3-hour stop at nearby Butchart Gardens.

However, definitely loved the peaceful relaxed feeling in the room, and we would love to return for some more quality time to just hang out.

I think I saw that there were no pets allowed, nor kids under 16, so not a 'family' place in that sense, but a great one for couples for sure!

Room Tip: Choose unit numbers ending in '06' or higher to avoid your view being blocked by tall trees...

Just got back from a romantic 2 night stay at Brentwood Bay and the first thing I thought was I had to share this gem with everyone! The setting, views, rooms, and staff are all amazing. It is a must do in my opinion if you are looking for a romantic get away near Victoria. 5 star all the way, thank you Brentwood Bay for making our anniversary get away more special then it already was.
