My husband and I ate here while visiting Butchart Gardens during our vacation in Victoria. I had planned ahead of time to have tea here due to the great reviews and the experience of eating in the garden setting. I called and made a reservation in the morning for 2:30 seating. We had the afternoon tea at a cost of $29.95 each. We each had our own pot of tea and the tea began with a dish of berry trifle followed by a three tiered tray which included a ginger scone with jam and devonshire cream, sausage roll, mini quiche, little sandwiches of egg salad, smoked salmon, ham salad, cucumber w/cream cheese and chicken salad. The sweet tray included a slice of poppy seed orange cake, marzipan wrapped cake slice, a slice of chocolate brandy napoleon, a French meringue and a small candy truffle. There was one of everything for us to each have. All of the food was delicious as well as the tea. The setting in the dining room was quiet, relaxed and very pleasant. Our table looked out on an expansive green lawn flanked by hedges of flowers and the Italian garden/courtyard on one side. It was a wonderful experience to have the fun of afternoon tea in such beautiful surroundings. The service was very good and attentive. The day we spent at Butchart Gardens was the highlight of our vacation as we had the great experience of viewing the amazing gardens as well as enjoying the fun afternoon tea!
