Visited the garden and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! My family relies heavily on Trip Advisor and we agree this establishment deserves five stars. The tropical garden was gorgeous - being from Florida, we have all of your plants in our garden too!! It was exciting for my daughter to see that the butterflies are thriving off of the things we already have. ;-) We saw all of the tropical birds including the flamingos; we saw a bunch of tortoises; a giant iguana - haven't seen one of those buggers since we were in the Florida Keys; and of course, the rock stars of the show - butterflies - and lots of them. We loved the crazy looking caterpillars in the trees and the pupae.....my seven year old daughter is an expert on butterflies through books and seeing this all in person was pretty stinking cool!! Gift shop was nice too....the custom pendants made from butterfly wings was right up my alley!! What a neat treasure to bring home. Overall, excellent job to the staff and the owners for making this hidden gem a big win!

The Victoria Butterfly Garden was one of highlights this year. It surprised us by its well thought out design. While the butterflies are the stars, the tortoises and other wildlife we saw, rounded out our visit.

This place is fantastic. From the outside it doesn't look much but wait until you get inside. Its like a mini botanical gardens with masses of different butterflies flying around freely. Many times the butterflies landed on us. There were also tortoises, flamingoes, parrots, iguana etc. Make sure you take your camera! The young guy in the shop was most helpful and even took us back in to show us where one of the birds was hiding on her nest. Would recommend for all ages.

Hello Lou C

Thanks for the great review. We are happy to hear you not only found the attraction to your liking but that your interaction with our staff was a positive one as well. This is my second visit to butterfly gardens. This is a great place for anyone who loves nature. It's a different experience to be amidst butterflies so close. A few will land on you, just stay still :)
Parrots, tortoises, iguana, flamingo etc. are all there. We missed spotting Zeebra finch during this trip though. Usually tree hugging Iguana came down for a few minutes on that day, and that was a great show for all the kids (&adults) around! Returned with a wealth of photos, and eagerly looking forward for next trip!

Well worth the visit and one of our favorites while in Victoria. Very educational and interesting. We actually enjoyed the Butterfly Garden more than Butchard Gardens only because you can interact with the wild life. The staff is friendly and helpful with any and all questions you may have. Amongst the tropical settings, we saw many species of butterflies and caterpillars. We saw flamingos, parrots, tortoises and the iguana came out and down to let us take pictures of her. The butterflies were the main attraction, but we enjoyed watching children and their reactions to all the wild life. Very nice place to visit.
