Owner description: These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens and National Historic Site of Canada started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

Overwhelmed with wonder and awe doesn't even express our excitement and thrill to see these beautiful acreas. I t was so much to take in we went back for a second day. We were also thrilled to be there for the fireworks evening. A "bucket list" to see for sure, kind of place!!!

We walked thru the Gardens in about 90 minutes. Many flowers due to the late winter were not in full bloom, but the attraction was still incredible. Breath taking would be a better description of the incredible part of Canada. Highly recommend a visit if you are in Victoria/Vancouver.

The grounds are immaculate, beautiful, and well done. Allow at least 4 hours to stroll around and look at all of the flowers and grounds. If you are into flowers, this place is a must see.

Maybe if one attends on a Saturday evening ( went on a weekday), the fireworks will make the BIG price worthwhile? Otherwise $32+ PER PERSON plus transport out to the back blocks is STEEP. Yes the flowers are lovely, set in an old quarry, and the place is as clean as Disneyland, but I wouldn't go out of my way for THIS attraction. Victoria is a Beautiful city FULL of great gardens and parks WITHOUT spending $100 a couple all in.

Visited the Butchart Gardens late June. spent about 4.5hrs there and that was the perfect amount of time to take in everything. Bring a good pair of walking shoes because if you want to see everything you have to climb some stairs, this place is able to see if you have mobility issues or are in a wheelchair but there will be things missed. Bring a sweater also because some areas are open and cool and some not. you don't have to bother to bring an umbrella seeing as they supply them complimentary.

Every view of Butchart is like a postcard. The landscaping is so flawless it looks as though they used fake grass and flowers but obviously haven't. I'm not a big fan of roses and took oodles of pictures in the rose section of the garden because they were just lovley, there's something for any tatse even if it's descriminating.

Had the afternoon High Tea Servie at the restaurant in the Italian Garden area called the Dining Room. If given the appoertunity I recommend you sit on the terrasse, the views are amazing. I chose the berry tea and typically place sugar and milk in my tea and didn't put either seeing as the tea was so flavoufull and fragrant. The petit sandwiches and scones were lovely and filling. The service was also very well, professional but warm and welcoming. I had to wait for a seat seeing as it was very busy but it didn't take very long and it was worth it.

The Butchart Gardens also has a cafateria for the money concious and they have great selections of food items and teas also and the Gift Shop had many lovely souvenirs to take away. There were perfumes, pressed flowers, vases and fun ways to show flowers, sculptures, artowrks and knick nack type stuff. I took the City Tour of Victoria and Butchart Gardens by a company called Horizon Tours, I found them on Viator.com and it was a lovely experience. The drivers name was Paul and he was a delight, couldn't of asked for a better day. A must see!

In all an absolutely beautiful experience and such a wonderful place to get to visit.
