This was a hike we wished we had done. It hugs the western shore of Waterton Lake for almost 10 miles. If you were prepared, you could hike all the way to the end of the Waterton Lake (you would be in the US) and take the boat back to Waterton. It is unbelievably beautiful.

“day trip to Waterton was sooo worth it”
Reviewed July 30, 2011

While visiting Glacier budget a day for Waterton. It's a long drive to get there so get up EARLY.
Red Rock Canyon is really neat.. the colors of the rock are unreal. we hoped to see bears ... didn't luck out but saw a moose and lovely scenery. The lakes outside the park were reflecting and gorgeous. There is a lodge in the park which is so cute ... wish we had stayed there.

“Worth the effort!”
Reviewed July 22, 2011

This hike requires advanced planning - you have to have a reservation to take it. It was worth every bit of planning I put into it. The guides we had Cate (Canada) and Sarah (US) were both wonderful. The rest of the hiking group was equally enjoyable. While it can be taxing (especially at the beginning) it was well paced and we learned so much more than just seeing the trails. Strongly encourage anyone with an interest in peace and internationals working together to take this hike. Hike is free, but need a boat ticket back!

“Nice hike for all ages”
Reviewed June 22, 2009

Young and old can enjoy a invigorating hike along a scenic trail with ranger guidance and interpretation of the fauna. At the border, citizens from both countries stand on their soil and offer a freindly greeting to their neighbor. Pack a lunch, your passport and your camera for memorable photos of a wilderness border, numerous flowers, and scenic views during your journey.
