Crandell Mountain Lodge

Previous reviews cite the friendly, helpful management and this is very true. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay. The rooms are quite small, but comfortable, and there is a very nice outdoor seating deck, with umbrellas, to have a drink or even eat a takeout dinner. There are grills too but DK if they work. One caveat: Many rooms, esp. on 1st floor overlook this outdoor area, so if you go to bed very early you may be disturbed by people talking. After 10PM it's quiet. There is no lobby or any other public seating area other than the outdoor deck, so on a rainy day you would have no option but your room.

My husband and I recently visited the Crandell Mountain Lodge for our fifth wedding anniversary. It was our first time visiting Waterton Lake, so we chose the Lodge based on other TripAdvisor reviewers' comments. On the whole we were pleased: the Lodge's location is quiet and wooded, yet still close to downtown; the deck surrounding the Lodge is a great place to eat breakfast or to hang out in the late afternoon; the staff and owners are very hospitable; and, of course, the homemade cookies are great! A couple of words of warning, however -- ask for an upstairs room because the ceilings are very thin and you can hear people walking above you (it kept my husband awake the first night we were there) and also because the deck is right outside the downstairs windows (people who get up early to check out can be very noisy!). Also be aware that when the Lodge says you get television, you actually get a TV with bunny ears that receives 4 channels, but you really can't see any of those channels well. There were also some maintenance issues (water in the shower fluctuated from hot to cold in seconds, the key in the door kept getting stuck, and the fireplace never worked right) but despite that, the room was cozy and clean enough that we'd stay there again. From what we saw of Waterton Lakes, Crandell Mountain Lodge was the best location available.

We were married in Waterton at Kilmorey, but wanted to try a different spot for our second visit with our 10-month old daughter. Jocelyn and Darcy were fabulous hosts, and very accomodating!!! The room was cozy, clean and exactly what we needed. The snowy weather only added to the warmth and charm of our experience. If you're looking for a quiet break away from city life, or just an escape from prairie drear, take in Crandell Mtn. Lodge in Waterton. Thanks for everything (especially those fabulous cookies!)!

My wife and I stayed this past summer, and countless summers before this. Darcy had always been very polite and very accomodating, yet this summer I overheard him being abrupt with his staff, and I felt as if it were an inconvenience to ask for any information from him. I'll stay somewhere new next summer.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Crandell Mountain Lodge during the winter for a romantic getaway. We would highly recommend it. Our weekend romance package included a room with a queen-sized bed - complete with lots of pillows and quilts - a full bath, fireplace, small fridge, champagne, roses, and one breakfast and dinner voucher for the Lamp Post restaurant across the street. (This is the only restaurant open in the park during the winter, but their food is outstanding.) Darcy was extremely accomodating, the room was spotless and we definitely didn't hear any mice in the walls! It was a perfect weekend. We definitely plan on going back again this winter.

We stayed at Crandell Mountain Lodge for three nights in a two bedroom suite. The room also had a full kitchen, dining room table/chairs and living room with a fireplace. The lodge has a large deck that all rooms share. Our room was clean, spacious and very nice. The beds were comfortable and the staff was terrific. The lodge is in walking distance to everything. My family (two adults, two toddlers) loved this place and highly recommend it to all Waterton visitors.

My wife, myself and another couple stayed in the deluxe standard room (two std beds, microwave, mini fridge, fireplace) for $159/night (CAD). The room was clean and big enough that the four of us were comfortable; the bathroom was suprisingly spacious and the gas fireplace was a nice touch. Darcy (manger and owner I think) was extremely helpful and friendly. The cookies were very tasty! The location is also nice in that it's a few blocks away from the 'downtown' area (albeit a very small downtown)...I saw some other motels in that area that seemed to get a little more congestion that we did.
