Our short one-night stay was not enough in Port Hardy. We stayed at the Orange Tabby after a long day on the ferry. Our room was clean and contemporary, the bed heavenly after the long day on the ferry. There were many thoughtful touches - coffee/tea, a small refrigerator, items in the bathroom, robes, slippers, quality linens. The best part of the visit was Susan's warm welcome when we arrived and the fabulous breakfast Susan and James prepared the next morning. We wanted a quick look at a bear before heading home and Susan was very helpful in helping us track one down. Thank you Susan and James for your thoughtful hospitality.

Our family spent 4 wonderful days at the Orange Tabby B&B with the lovely Susan and James. Other than outstanding service and wonderful facilities, the best part about our stay was how welcome and "looked after" we felt.

I knew we were in good hands, when I first spoke with James to make our reservation - I was a bit nervous as we were travelling with our 13 month old daughter, and wasn't sure how keen a B&B would be at accomodating an infant. Well James, right away sounded so excited to have a little one staying, and ensured we would have plenty of room for her travel bed etc. He was right! - our room was big enough to fit an extra infant travel bed, AND provided loads of space for our crawling daughter.

We were welcomed with a lovely glass of homemade wine, a custom that continued every night when we returned from our busy days of adventures. On days we wanted to have an early start - Susan packed us a great breakfast to go, and on days we stayed for breakfast - we were treated to a fabulous and wonderfully prepared breakfast. Susan even brought out Grover her puppet to entertain our daughter (try getting that kind of service at any other B&B). Both Susan and James are so knowledgeable about the area from where to have a nice meal, to the best place to see an orca!

Thank you Susan and James - we loved our stay at your lovely home, and we look forward to our return trip to Port Hardy!

I was on the way to Haida Gwaii with my mum, and while looking this place stood out among the others in Port Hardy. The B&B is in a great location 2 minute walk from the information office, the greyhound stop and other stuff.

Our room was super clean and nicely decorated (and well worth the price we paid) and our host James was so generous and so interested and nice we will remember about him. And for our morning ferry ride he gave us breakfast to go, a real treat!

I have no complaints about the B&B whatsoever, and would definitely stay there again.

Thank-you Michele and mom for staying with us on your way to Haida Gwaii. You are a special person to take the time and share an amazing adventure like with your mother when you are so busy with school. I'm glad we were able to share our stories in the short time together and that you had such a good trip.

We stayed for two different nights in two different rooms. Feels a lot like you are staying with a friend. The rooms are a bit small, but very nice. The breakfast is great, as is the wine James makes. Great value!! He goes out of the way to make you feel at home.

Thank-you Terri and Mike for choosing to spend part of your honeymoon with us. It was very cool how you planned each days adventure and how it was such a surprise for Mike. Hope swimming with the salmon was a memerable experience along with everything else you did along the way. Good luck with the upset tummy and the up coming birth of your first child. Take care

Our host, James, went out of his way to provide a personalized experience for all members of our party. He showed us bald headed eagles and bears. His advise about what to do and see was helpful. My partner enjoyed the fishing trip and the resultant fish were BBQ'd by James. The whale watching trip he recommended was fantastic. Thank you James for your friendly B&B.

The stay at the Orange Tabby was an absolute highlight of our three week long trip on Vancouver Island. It all started with James’ warm and cordial welcome, along with a glass of wine each and super delicious freshly made cookies. You know that feeling when you come to a new place and it feels like being at a friend? No? Come to the Orange Tabby! ;-)

Next highlight at the Orange Tabby: The humongous and mouthwatering breakfasts; James created the best breakfasts we had during our trip. And there was no better place for talking about all the things we saw the day before and plan the coming day.

The room we were in was very comfortable and equipped with all things you need to relax after a long day of hiking or whale watching etc. Port Hardy a great starting point for hiking in Cape Scott Provincial Park, go on a Grizzly Bear tour from Telegraph Cove, for whale watching and for spotting one of the majestic Bald Eagles – we never saw more than there! Speaking of tips: We strongly recommend you follow every single advice from James – he knows the best places and the best things to do! :-)

After four nights we had to continue our trip, but there were still many things we wanted to see around Port Hardy. We are happy to have found the Orange Tabby B&B; this alone would be reason to come back one day. Thanks for all, James!

Thank-you Heidi and Thomas for choosing to spend those 4 days of your holiday with us and then giving us such a nice wright-up and all the great follow-up and pictures on our facebook page as well. It was wonderful sharing all the stories and the great photos that Thomas took with all the other guests during breakfast. Look forward to visiting and sharing a small beer during Octoberfest one year. Take-care

My wife and I arrived at the Orange Tabby after a six hour road trip from Ucluelet and were met as soon as we stepped out of the car by James, one of our hosts for the four days we stayed. Before we had time to unpack a glass of delicious wine was thrust into our hands. James and Susan treated us like friends rather than guests. The accomodation was very comfortable and the breakfasts set you up for the day! Nothing was too much trouble! We hope to go back one day.

Hey Babs & Stu,
Glad you made it home safe and sound. Thank-you for giving us that wonderful review. We so enjoyed having you both , it was incredible to see all the wildlife photos you collected in 4 days. It seemed every time you turned around there was a eagle or bear waiting for you to take its picture. Those were great photos you posted on our OT facebook page for every one to enjoy. Hopefully you were able to get at least one good humming bird pic out of the 100 or so, they are still teasing us. We look forward to seeing you in your backyard in the future. :)
