What a wonderful find - we only managed to spend an afternoon at Bab Ourika and enjoy the stunning gardens and breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains but should we go back to Morrocco we would stay here. Our lunch was divine (fresh, tasty and lovely presentation) and the kiddies so enjoyed their meal too, the service was friendly, helpful and so obliging. Thank you for the great memory - it always brings a smile to my face!

Just the most beautiful place I have ever been to. My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend and are already dying to return. It was my birthday whilst we were away and Amanda organised a cake (she'd already sorted it before my boyfriend asked!) and the staff sang me happy birthday in 3 languages at dinner (luckily it was dark enough to hide my blushes). Such a lovely touch and I was so grateful.

All the other 5 star reviews should tell you all you need to know - it really is amazing.

We have just had a superb 2 nights in Kasbah Bab Ourika. The food was excellent, the room superb and the views jaw dropping. The staff were extremely helpful, dealing with all manner of requests, including a trip to the local pharmacy, such that we really were, very disappointed to leave.
The verdant gardens with secluded seating areas and the quality of fresh food from the kitchen gardens are worth a trip in their own right. Its very satisfying to see a place run this well with attention to the details.
The wifi was iffy; but that is a good thing!!!

When you enter the gates of Kasbah Bab Ourika, you realise it's much more than just a nice hotel with a great view. It keeps you in a dreamy state until the moment you leave. With the magnificent Atlas mountains in the background, they have created a secluded paradise. Understated luxury, beautiful architecture (indoors and outdoors), a garden beoynd belief. I still smell the roses... Thank you Amanda and team for a wonderful stay. We'll be back.

Room Tip: We had 14 and 15 with beautiful private terraces and the best view ever.

A truly stunning location in the foothills of the High Atlas, with good walks, and a good stopping point on the way to the Sahara.
The rooms are excellent and the gardens and surrounds delightful.

Unfortunately it is spoilt by very average food and poor restaurant service, particularly on the terrace.
It seems like they originally trained the staff and the chef, and then stepped back from regular supervision.

We spent 6 nights at the Kasbah and would have happily stayed many more. It fully lived up to all the many glowing reviews and if anything exceeded our high expectations. Wonderful setting, really comfortable accommodation in an impressive building and extensive garden with amazing views. Amanda the manager could not be more helpful and her efficiency and good humour combined with an informality set the culture for the team. Plenty to do with walks to local villages and various treks. Special mention to 'Big' Hassan who was our guide and our 'tutor' on the fascinating Berber culture! We will certainly return.

I will spare you the superlatives (see other comments) just to say if I wanted somewhere in the world to crash out for a few days this has to be the one. Setting is to die for and staff wonderful.
Only slight gripe was with the builder who has modified the kitchen vent to make smell come up right beside balcony of room. Didn't complain at the time but wished they has chosen a better builder! Doasnt take away from the 5* though. Just go relax and enjoy

Room Tip: Not the ones by the kitchen vent !!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Bab Ourika perches majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley, guarding the gateway to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – yet it is only 45 minutes from Marrakech’s International airport. With 360 degree panoramic views, this innovative new hotel receives warm sunlight all day, ending in spectacular sunsets. From its unique eyrie-like position it offers a birds eye view of the Atlas, of traditional Berber villages and of the lush river valley below. The Kasbah is one of the most eco-friendly hotels in Morocco; constructed principally from rammed earth, the traditional Berber building technique, it seems almost to have grown out of the rocks beneath. The thick walls provide such good insulation that air-conditioning is unnecessary. Solar panels provide hot water for the hotel and and the underfloor heating in the dining and bar area. Soon a biodigester will provide electricity and compost not only for the hotel but also for the village below. ... more   less
