If you want authentic Greek food, then this restaurant is a must. Kostas and Voula are perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The lack of a menu might not suit everyone, but for us, it adds to the charm. The food is well cooked and keeps coming. Very generous helpings.
You just can't go wrong with what is on offer but we specially liked the fish.
If you are not staying in Maza, the road leading to the village is a bit daunting, particularly for someone a bit nervous about Greek roads. But well worth the effort

Kostas and Voula are the most amazing hosts . Family taverna, homemade and homegrown food.No menu but no problem !!! Lovely cheese pies, beans in tomato sauce , greens, greek salad, fresh bread .Lovely white house wine, red is a matter of taste as its home brew and served cold !!! lovely bar b que pork , lamb ,fish. Beautiful mousakka, lamb or chicken special stew. Cannot recommend enough. We have been luck to stay in their villa in the village through a british company which is just heaven and remains our secret. The complementary Raki produced by Costas is really something and a friend makes honey Raki !!!! lovely lovely family .Thank you so much

I echo all that has been said before. Don't worry about the lack of menu, you will dine well on whatever Voula has been cooking. Very easy to persuade Costa to show you a few dance steps as well if the mood takes you. Lovely family, friendly locals there as well. Go.

Kostas and Voula still provide a wonderful welcome, perfect home cooked local food and a lovely atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble - try Kostas wine or Raki it is the best. We have now been three years running in September and have already booked again for next September but this time for three weeks instead of two. Really looking forward to that family welcome and friendship.

We had several excellent evenings here with Kostas and his family over the last 2 weeks. Beautiful food, they key being great local produce. The best Greek salads I've ever had. Lovely to sit out under the stars and the bougainvillea in the village square. There was plenty of local character, different every night. The obligatory village cats being chased by a tiny, irate dog. The elderly lady trying to catch the cats in a sack so she could lock them into a building to kill the mice. The village kids who played out late every night instead of being inside on play station or watching TV. Kostas and his family were very welcoming towards the little girl who was staying with us, so she loved it too. Standouts as well as the salad were the Sfakian cheese pies served with delicious honey, the chicken dishes, and the sweet melons, grapes and peaches for dessert. And incredibly cheap as well. Compared to the rip off meal we had for lunch in Chania one day, this restored my faith in honest food for locals and tourists.
