“Stunning food and wine with wonderful service”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

We had an exemplary meal at Le Puits du Tresor as a treat to ourselves at the end of our stay in the area. Having been slightly disappointed by a Michelin 2* restaurant in the area, we were absolutely blown away by the quality and simplicity of the food here. We had the 5 course option, paired with the wine flight. The restaurant manager who served us was absolutely charming and spoke impeccable English, talking us through the dishes as they arrived (he gave us the option to hear the menu in advance but we preferred to be surprised). Every dish was a perfect realisation of the ingredients that went in to it. The menu changes every day in accordance with the freshest and most delicious ingredients that the head chef has found that day. It is these ingredients that are the stars of the show, with a stunning rich lobster dish being our favourite. The chef doesn't try to be too clever, or fool you with elaborate presentation or conceptual dishes - this is just immaculate cooking and beautiful flavours, which is often far more difficult to do. I would highly recommend taking the wine flight as it doesn't work out any more expensive than a nice bottle but you get to try some fantastic local wines. There is one white that we are still tracking down to buy from home! The chef came out into the restaurant at the end and was charming and hilarious - his kindness made the evening for us. When we are next in the area we will go back as soon as possible.

“Auberge is alright”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

Tried the Auberge at lunch today and found it was pleasant and agreeable, though quirky.

For example, two of us chose and ordered the Velouté of matrons et pignons only afterwards to informed this was not now available, but that we might consider instead the gazpacho. Yet, when we then chose the gazpacho we were told that unfortunately this was not available! Extraordinary !

In the end the starters were satisfactory, being quenelles and some salads, of which the gizzard salad was nicer than it might seem to some timid souls.

The lamb and duck main courses were alright, but the boeuf tartare was unexceptional, served a touch on the warm side and was presented with insufficient spicy accompaniments for one to customise to own preferences (what is wrong with providing Worcestershire sauce?)

Coffee was alright too.

The overall rating of average is somewhat harsh and an above average rating would have been awarded but for the first course menu pantomime of errors.

“Uninspiring”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Although the dishes were good, compared to other Michelin starred restaurants I have visited, les Puits did not meet my expectations. I found the price of over 75 euro per person not matching the quality of the food nor the experience.

The atmosphere I found too simple and uninspiring.

Don't expect great views although the restaurant borders the river and from the outside the four Cathar castles can be seen, but that is not the main criterion when choosing a Michelin starred restaurant?

Reviewed May 1, 2013

This is a stylish place in the charming village of Las Tours. The food is very good the chef obviously knows what he's doing. The prices are reasonable and the service is quick and friendly. Definitely recommend and would visit again.

“Outstanding!”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

My husband and I went today on a rainy windswept day and wow what a restaurant. We have lived all over the world and eaten in many restaurants but this is the best ever. No choice but who needs that when the most gorgeous food appears on the plate . Every dish full of fresh ingredients locally sourced. It is all about taste and presentation . Wine divine Charming service .

I think I have just been to heaven and back!
