A truly memorable meal. Go, go, go! A delicious menu accompanied by beautiful wines. It was so exciting to stumble on this gem.

From amuse bouches (Parmesan biscuit, squash purée with quails egg and salty ham, duck samosa) to coffee (with chocolate pebbles), our meal was beautifully presented, flavourful, interesting and enjoyable. Very helpful with offering an alternative starter and dessert for our friend with allergies. I enjoyed the mosaic of pork dressed with caper berries and olives, the beef with roasted vegetables and the chocolate tart topped with chasselas grapes and a served with a punchy cassis sorbet. The house wine was good, the service friendly and efficient. Slightly more expensive than a typical auberge lunch in this region, but overall well worth making an effort to visit.

Excellent food and great value, we were staying locally and used this restaurant three times, the best in the area that we found.

We found the setting a little strange as the restaurant, beautifully done, has rather taken over the village. Took the 2 course set lunch at E14.50 excellent value for money. Amuses bouches were mussels in a persillade ( a little too salty), parmesan pastries and excellent olives. Main course of lieu jaunes - pollock, the fish correctly cooked and good texture but lacking flavour - with a crust of pistachio, on a bed of mash with a chutney which was a tad too sweet. Dessert a very interesting pastry, again with pistachios in a mango or peach sauce and sorbet. Good coffee. House white wine good. Service and ambience also good. Would definitely return when in the area.

We usually visit my aunt's place in France during August and spend my Mum's birthday at Auberge de Bardigues. It really feels like it is in the middle of nowhere but it is a very well-run place with excellent facilities and food.

Not speaking much French they try to accommodate you with staff that have a little English, but most of the time it's quite easy to communicate! The amuse-bouche is delicious - cheese biscuits with a shot glass containing marscapone, caviar and a quail's egg each - yum! I ended up having most of them as my family weren't interested in caviar.

Two of us had starters and mains, and two had mains and desserts but a waiter came out and rattled off a lot of French to us which we didn't understand. It turned out that the chef had made the two of us that weren't eating starters another little amuse-bouche to tide us over, which was really above and beyond. Without going into massive amounts of detail, the food was delicious and well-cooked, the presentation fabulous and the attention from the staff excellent, despite the fact we're English!

Yes, a little expensive, but well worth the quality and attention. We're sad that my aunt's house has now been sold, so we won't be going to that area again, but if we ever stay near Bardigues again we'll definitely be going back.
