“Great place”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

The Casuarina Beach Resort is a great place to relax from busy life. The beach with Kayaking boats, swimming pool and cabana type rooms all things are very good. Dinner from Bamboo Restaurant is amazing with sea food.

The resort has private beach, which you can have activities with friends or colleagues. I prefer villa with one bedroom more than 2 bedrooms. However, the villa of 2 bedrooms has living zone and dining zone. Breakfast is ok.

Room Tip: If need privacy, do not choose villa next to swimming pool, even it comes with very nice view.

Frankly speaking, after the last minute 'look up' of this hotel here in Trip Advisor , i was a bit worried the night before we jumped into our car and off to the seaside. Since the booking has been made and it was T minus 12 hours before launch, there was much i can do, except hope for the best.

Turns out that the hotel has made big improvement since the ownership changed hands a couple of years ago, the swimming pool has been refitted with proper tiles and a lot of the shabby furniture had been replaced. It is no way near a 5 stars resort, but comfortable none the less.

Just like the previous reviews, if you are looking for things to do nearby, its too far from everything and everywhere (unless you have a car), so it is not the place for you if you constantly need to go to the night market or the restaurants in town. I still think it is a great resort for locals as transportation is not a problem, or ideal for foreign tourists who just looking to chill, chill and chill some more.

The service and the staff had been very helpful, room fees are very reasonable, amenities are more than adequate, all in all, everything was good except that you get some occasional flies and mosquitos, but you are in Thailand, you will get them everywhere you go.

Last but not least, the beach is huge and quiet! If you want to have vendors selling you stuff on the beach or being interrupt by jet skis, you need to go to pattaya, in here, you get nothing, totally peace and quiet. For me, great, but it might not work for everyone.

It was January 2008 when we flew out from San Francisco got to Bangkok pretty late, spent a smooth 2 hour taxi van ride to Casurina. We spent about 5 days in this resort we only knew through the Internet before we did the shopping thing in Bangkok. I tell you it was the most relaxing place after not having a vacation for 2 years. My wife, my 2 year old little girl and myself enjoyed every second we spent in Casurina. Sure the place is quite a bit off the malls the hustle a bustle of the big city and that's why we pick it. The staff was great, communication was interesting but what do you expect your in a totally different country and just have to be creative and open in trying to communicate with the locals. Since then the family grew with now 2 little girls and one boy due November 2010. We often talk about our trip to Thailand and our stay at Casurina. Perhaps one day when my little boy turns 2 we can spend another 5 days in Casurina.

We didn't find The Casuarina Resort at all suitable for a 4-star exotic and relaxing getaway, and not suitable for non-Thai speakers, or families. The descriptions we read, and photographs on the web-sites, were bending the truth rather too far!

We checked-out of the Casuarina Resort after just one night, and went instead to Hua-Hin, 30-40 miles south, where there was a much greater choice of accomodation, restaurants, and a cleaner beach.

The positives:
- the rooms are clean, comfortable and roomy
- friendly staff

However, there are some important down-sides to be aware of :
- the resort is very remote ... no town, one very limited shop but 20 mins walk along the beach.
- the decor very tired (see photos, especially pool area)
-staff don't speak English, so making ourselves understood was very difficult.
- the pool was unusable... green slime, paint peeling off everywhere (except in their web-site photos!), sun loungers all needed a good scrub.
- dirty beach ... not cleaned after guests, and everything imaginable washed up from the sea.
- Food - limited choice, and quality not great.
- when we were there, there were no other guests ... and no atmosphere at all
- while clean & roomy, the rooms did fall short of 4-star quality (one example is having tv but only Thai-speaking stations!)

Finally, as we had booked 7 nights in advance, we were hoping for at least some refund for the 6 nights accomodation and food we did not use. Our agents have been told the hotel will not refund a penny, and we are still waiting / hoping for an improvement to the situation.

When selecting any place to stay on the internet it’s “Buyer Beware”, however the exception would be Casuarina Resort located at Puk-Tien, Thayang, Petchburi.

This boutique resort is located about 25 minutes north of Cha-am in a quite and secluded area on Puk-Tien Beach. From the moment you arrive you get a great feeling, you are checked-in by the friendly and efficient staff and taken to your clean and modern bungalow (I stayed in a Garden View). The resort’s facilities, service and food are of the highest quality.

The resort layout is spacious and the sea front is beautiful, there are no vendors on the beach, it was relaxing and private. The swimming pool is great and excellent for children as well as for adults.

Please note as this resort is remotely located, there is no other places to eat around, there are no buses, no ATM’s, no taxis, no supermarkets, no sport facilities etc.

I would recommend this wonderful resort to anyone considering a relaxing holiday or just a weekend away from bustling Bangkok.
