“Good Hotel Let Down By Poor Restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

Three of us stayed in the Falkirk Larbert Premier Inn for 3 nights. The hotel was a little tired but spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. But this is badly let down by the 'Outside Inn' pub used for breakfast and meals. I knew this was going to be a problem when I was kept waiting for 10 minutes at the bar the first night. I was one of only two customers and there were four staff intent on doing anything but serve people. But the big problem came when we went for the 'Premier Breakfast' at over £25 for the three of us. There was only instant coffee, concentrated orange juice, no earl grey tea, no toast (toasters not working) no croissants or any other bakery products because 'it was the day after the weekend?' I have news for them...there is one of these every week!
The cooked element of the breakfast was awful. At 8.00am there was almost nothing out, one congealed egg with the smallest yoke I have ever seen, the 'meaty and succulent' sausage from the menu was mostly cereal. mushrooms out of a tin or frozen. I emptied just about every plate to scrape a modest breakfast together. As I turned to walk away the kitchen door opened an a lady replenised the buffet with 6 rashers of bacon and 5 fried eggs! Pathetic. We complained and received an apology but no refund.

The rest of our stay we breakfasted at the Torwood garden centre behind the hotel. A full breakfast, toast and filter coffee or tea for £3.95 Brill!

So a thumbs up for the hotel but avoid the Outside Inn!

Myself and my partner have used Premier Inn regularly this year to visit family that live nearby. Our recent stay in the Premier Inn was very nice. You really do have "a good nights sleep". I thought the Breakfast was quite different at this one, the hot breakfast was 'help yourself' so I didnt enjoy it as much as the other Premier Inns, the toaster took far too long and didnt toast at all. By the time you waited for that, your egg and bacon was cold. Definately recommended for the convenience.

The Premier Inn at Falkirk was fabulous in nearly every way. But breakfast finishes at 9am!

With checkout at midday, unless you're an early bird I'd suggest not booking breakfast in advance and making alternative arrangements, eg nearby supermarkets or wetherspoons!

Hotel was what you expect for a Premier Inn; Rooms clean, bathroom standard - water pressure in shower wasn't powerful but it was hot (very hot in the case of the basin), and daily fresh towels even when not asked for.

Only qualm was that the one day we were late up (10 am) we didn't have any replacement milk for the ones we had used the day previous which wasn't a huge problem just would have been nice to have had a cup of coffee on the morning we left.

Internet was fine once sorted - if you used every e-mail address of your party you could have 30 minutes each, we weren't sure about the details on the 30 minutes free but found this seemed to work. If you required longer you could buy 24 hours for £3 or nip across to the pub opposite for free wifi.

Reception were lovely and very attentive, had lots of knowledge of the area and couldn't do enough to help.

Overall a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: The AC wasn't working so definitely worth asking for a sheet from reception if it is a warm spel...

A pleasant and comfortable night spent at this Premier Inn, with lots of hot water and an excellent shower, good value for money.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, also good location, would stay here again.

Nice large comfy bed me, my partner and daughter all slept in the bed and the 3 of us had plenty of room. The room was clean enough bathroom needed a new bath panel, friendly staff only problem was you could hear the people up above walking about quite loudly it was loud enough to keep you awake/wake you up. Would stay here again. Don't get breakfast next door at the outside inn it's terrible.
