I stayed at ParkInn for 3 days and i should say that it went well. I mean you'll get what you pay for and there are no surprises at all. I'm still not sure what category does Park Inn belongs to since booking.com says 4, the others say 3 stars and the hotel itself doesn't tell.. I'd personally say it can be a valid four star hotel. a basic four star.
The first thing that may stop you on booking on them is the location. Park Inn is in a newly developed business area (nothing really special and absolutely deserted at night) the hotel itself is new and it still smells like new when you enter but believe me that the shuttle bus works really efficiently (i mean if you know well how to organize your time) and Schipol is amazingly connected to everywhere you won't need to be anywhere else. I was doubtful about staying around schipol but it made me spare a lot of euros since Ams is awfully expensive. its 10mins. to the airport and 15 to ams.. in nearly half and hour you are ready to go to rock in central Ams..
There were comments about excessive doors and it was definitely true, like i had no problems with it since i came from a weekend and i'm on my twenties, i'm just imagining the older people dealing with it every time they enter their room, i practically had 4 doors to open to get into my room and that is because they kept the last door before accessing my room open all the time, i guess the building structure was not meant to be a hotel at first, but i personally think they could have worked on removing them when they actually turned it out into a hotel. But no worries, opening 2 or 3 doors more does not matter at all when you're in vacation. The elevator-using-card-access is also a hassle since you can easily access the stairs and get on the floors so they could have saved it up.
I was upgraded to a corner room 402 (that's because of my Club carlson membership) and the room was really nice, the big windows being a corner room added to the appeal. The size of the room itself was standard, the bathroom was big enough with everything you'll need, i was kind of unsure about the material of the shower plate at first coz it seems slippery when wet but it turned out to be really safe, the black granite of the basin and black ceramics on the flooring were spotless every time they do the cleaning so hands down to the housekeepers i know well how hard to clean those without leaving a footprint. The bed was comfortable but the pillows weren't that comfortable to give me a sounding sleep, What bothers me is the heating/cooling system, which is, yes, you've got control individually but it's fix on the wall without remote controls, so when you feel a little hot, you step up to adjust, when you're feeling cold you have to stand up and lower that again, i was having a pretty hard time to regulate temp. in my room that i had to stood up several times to adjust it.
There was no MINIBAR in the room!!! well i honestly knew it before i book, but i was kind of hoping they had installed it recently, its nice to be able to store some stuffs on the minibar when you need it (not that minibars where meant for that, but we all do that :)), i worked in a 2 star hotel which had a minibar on them, how could something like ParkInn couldn't afford that.
TV was ok, they had all the channels of the world and i've get to watch even some movies like Da Vinci code :)
Breakfast is really ok, they had an amazing idea to get a dedicated breakfast room for groups so it won't get crowded for the other guests and that's smart. food choices are basic, eggs, bacon and sausage are classics of continental buffet, they've got a selection of bread, fruits, cereals, hams and cheese, it was generally ok, above the average but i had it included on my booking. If i would have to pay it 17euros a day, probably i'll have a muffin and a coffee at starbucks in the airport.
i didn't consider this on my review but during my departure, no one has told me that the bus for the shuttle was moved on the main road due to road construction on the street where the shuttle pass by, i obviously lost the shuttle on the time i expected to get it and i almost lost my flight if i hadn't catch a bus passing on the main road, i know it can't be helped but a detail like that is somewhat disappointing. When asking a cab, the earliest they could get me is 10mins. away which i don't know if it's always the case or it's just the busy morning hour, so consider that when you want to call a cab from there.
generally my stay was nice, because in general i always make my stay comfortable either way, had i got back to Ams, i wouldn't have problems staying with them again, prices are pretty fair with the services they offer.
