I hired a car on the 7th December 2019. When I was given the contract I found that they had charged me for Flexi Fuel €26. I inquired with the representative what this was he said that this charge is so that I do not need to fill up before I return the car. I was not even asked about the options, I was just charged. I told the representative that I shall be returning the car full as I always have done with other car hires. The representative then told me he is going to reverse the charge and it will appear later. In fact the credit card receipt did not include the €26 charge. When I returned the car the representative asked me if the car is full which I confirmed.
I wrote to customer service that the charge was never reversed. They wrote back that after checking they confirmed that the car was returned full BUT there might be charges. The amount was not refunded! I then phoned customer service and explained what happened. Believe me their explanation ( I was speaking with Philip) was that I was the culprit because I signed the contract including the charge. The customer is always right DOES NOT apply with Goldcar. I tried to explain that the mistake was of their representative and he should be honest enough to confirm that he spent 10 minutes trying to adjust the charge. At this stage I could not take it any longer with Philip of customer care and just cut the line.
I visit my son's family twice a year and I will make sure I will not use Goldcar again - NEVER AGAIN.
