“Historical old building with interesting history.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2012

I visited on a Wednesday as part of a day in the area.I was the only person there and was pleasantly surprised when I was told the guide would be with me in a moment!!The guide was a most charming man who took me around each room and explained the history and connections and answered the many associated questions I had.The place has strong links to the methodist movement and the Wesley family so has links to many other places such as Oxford, the USA and other countries. There is a garden at the side and out to the back another smaller garden with poultry and a herb garden linked to the herbalism practiced by John Wesley. Opens March to October ,Mondays to Saturdays and Sundays by appointment only.It is only about a ten minute stroll from the town centre and there is parking outside.Afterwards visit St Andrews church where John Wesley is at rest.I would suggest visiting Epworth and making it a day trip to enjoy the heritage with the many tea rooms, pubs and restaurants.

“It ozes history”

Can see why our American cousins make a beeline for Epworth. So historic and relevant to today also!
