I enjoy stopping by the Purple Onion for lunch. They always have something on the menu that is deli quality, and flavourful. Last time I was there the cash register was broken and they told me to go away and pay later that day. . .and this was the owner! It's refreshing when you find a place that trusts you to return and settle your accounts later.
My only complaint, and it's not specifically with this one spot, is that all the coffee spots close at 5:30pm. So if you are a night owl, or are looking for a coffee in the evening, it's either the bar (if it's open) or your hotel room coffee maker.
On a clear night the stars dance in the sky like nowhere else on earth I have ever been. . .doesn't quite offset the need for a midnight coffee, but it's a good start!

Waited over 30 minutes for the daily soup and sandwich special. Then the server brought only half the order and had to be reminded about the other half. The day I was there the servers (also the cooks) spend more time chatting with friends who dropped in than they did serving customers.

This little place in Queen Charlotte Village has won a few awards - great turkey/brie/raspberry sandwich and yummy chicken burger.

Purple Onion seems like it just took over another restaurant in Queen Charlotte City. It is a restaurant on the main street of Oceanview Drive and in an old house. Breakfast vegetarian bagel with fresh avacado, tomato and egg was delicious. For lunch, it looks like they bake their own bread and grilled sandwiches range from a Rueben to brie with roasted garlic and raspberry. Prices are high but the cost of groceries is really expensive there.
