Premier Creek Lodging

This is the 3rd time we stayed in this establishment. Its run by caring and friendly couple. The rooms are not modern, but clean and comfy. The hotel location is close to all amenities, like restaurants and "shopping". The view from the rooms are spectacular, because it has a breath taking ocean view. Some suites have kitchenettes and 2 beds and a pull out bed, so its useful for families too. Premier creek also has a hostel in the back of the property for backpackers.

We stayed in the hostel section of this lodge for 1 night after getting off the ferry from Prince Rupert. It was definitely a value for money kind of place. A small hut in the back yard behind the main lodge. There are 3 rooms, we stayed in the room with a double bed. The room could fit the double bed and our bags but not too much else! The bed was very comfortable, but the sheets and the pillows were old. The other rooms in the hostel had bunk beds and looked decent enough.

There were 2 bathrooms, 1 with shower and toilet (no sink) and 1 with shower, toilet and bonus sink. The kitchen was small and functional and had adequate amounts of utensils, pots and pans etc. During our stay there were only 4 of us in the place, we could imagine this place being cramped if it were full, especially with only 4 chairs around a table and room for 3 or 4 on the couch. The wifi was free and had a good signal, and was fast.

We really liked that there was no tele and the garden setting was also really lovely complete with chooks, as was the view down to the bay. This place was great value for money and is really close to the ferry terminal. It is a great place to stay on the way through.

Around the hostel there are some nice small shops, a cafe or 2 and a really great small organic grocery store. Just keep in mind everything is closed at 5 or 6!

My wife & I stayed 5 nights in July 2010, during a road-trip in Haida Gwaii. Premier Creeks had a combination of rooms (separate bedroom & kitchen in the suite, and full-bath) as well as some hostel-style rooms.

The CAA/AAA tourbook listed them as "not rated' because of locking devices on doors. We presume that this is because the doors are antique, but they do have key locks, and extra night-chain. This wasn't a problem for us. The door-lock worked just fine.

We highly recommend Premier Creek for its location, its cleanliness and for the owner/manager's commitment to the profession of inn-keeping. Our small suite was perfect for a 5-night stay. The building is a modernly-restored heritage building.
