Five of us friends rented the cottage for 2 nights and had a fabulous time there. The view over the water, with the north shore mountains in the distance, was gorgeous. We look forward to camping at the site once the weather warms up!
The cottage was clean and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, and the wood stove with lots of wood supplied kept us warm and cozy.
Lois was very accommodating and friendly.
We found the flat fee of $50 for our dog a bit steep.
Take ear plugs if you don't want to be woken by the hoots of the big BC Ferries passing by!
For the past few years we have taken our kids on a 'family day weekend' getaway and this year it was to Mayne Island. Seal Beach Cottage was one of the best places we've stayed! The family is growing so we were 6 adults, a 4 yr. old and 2 toddlers....and the family dog, Gilly! The accommodations were perfect! Having the use of the extra sleeping room off the main cottage was really helpful! Why toddlers can't sleep in is a mystery, but having the direct access out the door to the beach was a blessing for those early (did I mention early?!) mornings! Cozing up in the warmth of the wood stove after chilly outdoor adventures was just the best! Cottage well supplied...ie- kitchen, etc. The more than 30 seals put on quite a show at the beach! It's not called Seal Beach for nothing! Our black lab, Gilly and the seals exchanged some very interested and curious staring matches! And, yes, we found both the rope swing and the tire swing....so much fun for the 4 yr. old! Great weekend.
Perfect location just set off the beach. Clean, peaceful and quiet. I highly recommend Seal Beach Cottage for a great holiday away.
We stayed at Seal Beach Cottage over New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time. We were greeted with a nice little note and a plate of cookies and squares to enjoy during our stay. The cottage is very comfortable and has every thing you need. The cottage was easily warmed with baseboard heaters and the wood stove. One of my favourite things about Seal Beach is the driveway in which curves in through a mature forest of trees to arrive at the waterfront area and the cottage. Our whole family will be back in the summer staying at the cottage and camping too. We are looking forward to it!
I recently had to house my staff on Mayne Island for a recent project. I am very thankful to our hosts as they provided everything we needed and great information on local amenities. We would definitely stay again and enjoy the quiet life of Mayne Island.
The location on the private beach is very beautiful, and between the seals and the ferries there is always something interesting to see. The cottage itself is large and comfortable and equipped with all conveniences. The kitchen is very functional and the decorating of the cottage very tasteful. The location is close to Miners Bay, the main village on Mayne Island. It is a great find.
We were looking for a tranquil get-away in west coast beauty, and that's exactly what Seal Beach Cottage offers. The cottage is nicely appointed and you can't beat the setting, right on the edge of woods and water, with a gorgeous trail to lead you deeper in and easy stroll to the private beach to soak up the sea sound and light. The grocery store and bakery are just down the road. A real find!
