“"Only one word, Awesome"”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

After several visits through the years and more to come, Taku is awesome. Lynden and the Taku Team once again are to be commended for ensuring a superb experience in a spectacular location that never fails to whelm the senses. As seasoned boaters and kayakers Taku offers the perfect departure point for fabulous travels in the Discovery Islands and Inlets. Self contained ocean front cabins with views of Rebecca Spit, Sutil Channel and Breton Isles quickly make you forget the need for television and media devices. Once again, thanks for the hospitality and have a great 2014 season, see you in the fall. Cheers, Walt & Pam (Courtenay, BC) Cabin # 4 / 2 to 8 Jun

Great to have you back again Walt & Pam! I agree, exploring the surrounding islands is spectacular, especially with all of the wild life flying and swimming around. Shortly after your visit we had a few sightings of a pod of 8 orcas.

Thank you for your "Awesome" review, Lynden and the Taku crew appreciated it. We look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Cheers,

I have visited Taku Resort twice now (previously in August 2013) and both times it has been amazing. The resort is situated in a quiet corner of Heriot Bay with spectacular ocean views. We were also treated to a variety of wildlife sightings including bald eagles, deer, starfish, seals, and even a family of orca whales! Taku has a wide array of activities and amenities to enjoy. We particularly loved paddle boarding on the calm waters of the bay, relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying a beer on our oceanfront patio. The perfect place for a romantic getaway or to visit with the entire family, there is truly something for everyone!

Hello Christa
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. You really timed your stay right if you were able to see a family of orcas! It's a somewhat rare magical experience. Paddle boarding looks more tricky than it really is, doesn't it? It's the perfect way to explore Quadra by water.
We're so pleased that you've enjoyed both of your stays and we look forward to seeing you here again.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Wong

Once again I have had a wonderful, unforgettable stay at Tacu. I have stayed in the cabins several times before but this time around I opted for the upper beach house. My lady and I were beyond spoiled. A spacious two bedroom, two bathroom apartment that was beyond comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for entertaining while cooking. The wrap around view of Rebecca Spit was breathtaking. Taku is the kind of place one can enjoy any time of year. We went over Valentines week and the weather went from blustery and beautiful to crisp and sunny and back again. Go on a Kayaking adventure. Take a walk on the driftwood covered beaches. Sit by a romantic fire and watch the stars. Go for a lovely hike around Morte Lake or up Chinese Mtn for eye popping scenery. The staff and management at Tacu are friendly and attentive. If you need anything, just ask. If you run out of anything or need a nice bottle of Red, there is a grocery store, pub and shops within a five minute walk of the resort. What a fantastic place. I can't wait to visit again.

Hello Richard
Thank you for coming back again and for the glowing review. The weather in February is very unpredictable but that really adds to the beauty of the West Coast.
I'm glad you decided to spoil yourselves and experience the Beach House, it really is something to wake up to that view.
We are also very proud of our great Taku team and look forward to hosting you again. Next time maybe you want to try the Tree House, we just built a new large deck with an amazing view?
Cheers,
Elizabeth Wong

This family-style resort is located right on the water in Heriot Bay. There is a section for RV's, several cabins and a row of rooms, all with lovely views. We booked the day of our stay and the manager was very accommodating. Our room had an ensuite bathroom, a Murphy bed, a fully kitted out kitchenette, a tiny dining table/chairs and two comfortable chairs. It really had everything we needed, but all the positive qualities were overshadowed by the greasy odor that permeated the room and unfortunately struck you as soon as you opened the door. Also, we stayed here in December and couldn't fully appreciate the location, which would be wonderful in summer with kayaking and other warm-weather activities.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad that your studio suite had everything that you needed to explore our beautiful island. You are right, there is a lot more of the resort and island to enjoy in the summer but the winter does have it's own beauty. We are sorry to hear that the smell in the room overpowered your enjoyment of your stay. We take great care in cleaning our suites but have found the smell to be difficult to get rid of. Our management team did discuss your concerns and we are looking into purchasing new equipment to rid the suites of the smells. Your comments are appreciated and with them we have an opportunity to continue to provide unforgettable west coast vacations.

Sincerely, Elizabeth Wong

Once again, the best place for a base camp to boat or kayak into Discovery and Desolation water ways, this while you relax and enjoy the scenery knowing your boat is secure in an excellent marina with essential amenities only a short walk "up-the-hill". Staff at Taku are to be commended for ensuring guest the best possible stay and making a return trip mandatory. Keep up the superb work and have an excellent fall/winter, see you soon. Dear Walt and Pam
It's a pleasure to welcome wonderful guests like yourselves. We love sharing our beautiful spot with guests, especially knowing that you really took advantage of the surrounding beauty. Thank you for your service compliments, we strive to make our guests' stay as comfortable as possible. I imagine you saw all of the local harbour seals "guarding" the marina? They're quite the sight.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We also look forward to seeing you again.

We stayed 2 nights with family in a 2 bedroom suite. It was clean, warm and quiet. The manager seemed to be on call all the time and was very helpful. We had a canoe and the paddling was great as well as the scenery. We were there off season but really enjoyed this place and were able to take in a market although there is a grocery store across the road.

Room Tip: We stayed on the terrace but the A frames may have a better view.

Dear Guest,

We're so glad you were able to get so much out of your holiday despite it not being the typical travel season. Quadra Island does have a lot to offer even during the cooler seasons. There are some great nooks and crannies to explore by boat and there are no major currents you have to worry about. I believe you took in the very first Winter Farmers Market.

I also agree with you, the A-frames do have better views being steps to the water. The suite you stayed in is preferred by younger families (children ages 6 and younger) or for people looking for a bit more space. The A-frame cabins are cosier with a gas fire place and a ladder that leads up to the loft. The cabins are our most popular so hopefully you can visit again and try one.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review.

Regards,
Elizabeth Wong

We are so happy to find places such as this little gem that doesn't use fragrances or chemicals but yet maintain very clean cottage style units.
The view and setting is breathtaking plus they allow pets!
We just love to visit Quadra Island and to stay at the Taku resort.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review and commenting on our housekeeping. Using natural products benefits our guests, housekeeping staff and our surrounding environment. We try our best to reduce our footprint even if it means having someone bring our recycling to the depot in Campbell River when they head in to town. We hope your pup had a good time running around and swimming at the beach.
We look forward to seeing you again at Taku.
Sincerely,
