Once again, the best place for a base camp to boat or kayak into Discovery and Desolation water ways, this while you relax and enjoy the scenery knowing your boat is secure in an excellent marina with essential amenities only a short walk "up-the-hill". Staff at Taku are to be commended for ensuring guest the best possible stay and making a return trip mandatory. Keep up the superb work and have an excellent fall/winter, see you soon. Dear Walt and Pam
It's a pleasure to welcome wonderful guests like yourselves. We love sharing our beautiful spot with guests, especially knowing that you really took advantage of the surrounding beauty. Thank you for your service compliments, we strive to make our guests' stay as comfortable as possible. I imagine you saw all of the local harbour seals "guarding" the marina? They're quite the sight.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We also look forward to seeing you again.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Wong

We stayed 2 nights with family in a 2 bedroom suite. It was clean, warm and quiet. The manager seemed to be on call all the time and was very helpful. We had a canoe and the paddling was great as well as the scenery. We were there off season but really enjoyed this place and were able to take in a market although there is a grocery store across the road.

Room Tip: We stayed on the terrace but the A frames may have a better view.

Dear Guest,

We're so glad you were able to get so much out of your holiday despite it not being the typical travel season. Quadra Island does have a lot to offer even during the cooler seasons. There are some great nooks and crannies to explore by boat and there are no major currents you have to worry about. I believe you took in the very first Winter Farmers Market.

I also agree with you, the A-frames do have better views being steps to the water. The suite you stayed in is preferred by younger families (children ages 6 and younger) or for people looking for a bit more space. The A-frame cabins are cosier with a gas fire place and a ladder that leads up to the loft. The cabins are our most popular so hopefully you can visit again and try one.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review.

Regards,
Elizabeth Wong

We are so happy to find places such as this little gem that doesn't use fragrances or chemicals but yet maintain very clean cottage style units.
The view and setting is breathtaking plus they allow pets!
We just love to visit Quadra Island and to stay at the Taku resort.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review and commenting on our housekeeping. Using natural products benefits our guests, housekeeping staff and our surrounding environment. We try our best to reduce our footprint even if it means having someone bring our recycling to the depot in Campbell River when they head in to town. We hope your pup had a good time running around and swimming at the beach.
We look forward to seeing you again at Taku.
Sincerely,

If you are on a boat and in need of a bed and a shower i can highly recommend Taku in the beautiful scenic Quandra island. On our 1st night we stayed in a Terrace Suite and the 2nd night we stayed in an 'A frame' Beach Cabin. The prices were very reasonable and they have everything you need on the island - ie laundry, shop and showers (if you are not staying in a room this is great!). They have lots of amenities on the resort - hiking, tennis, basketball, kayaking, paddle boarding and beach walks. They also have internet! Beach Cabin #4 did not have internet however the terrace suites did have it so if this is important to you be sure to specify before you check in! We had a lovely welcome on the dock from Steve (i think that was the name) who gave us the lowdown on where everything was and what to do which is a really nice personal touch! Would definitely recommend and would go back (but to a room with internet!) - this is by no means luxury (I think the majority of furnishings were from Ikea) but better than your average as you get that high North!

Dear RozColthart
Thank you for taking the time to write this nice review from a boater's perspective. I did let Steve know he was recognized on your review. It's always good to know when you've done a good job.
I'm glad our suite and cabin met your expectations despite the lack of internet at Cabin 4. Unfortunately we have trouble finding a solution to get the wi-fi that far, next time you come you can use the office computer or sit in the games room with your device to access the internet.
We understand that writing reviews does take some time and we appreciate the time you took.
Hopefully we will see you on Quadra again!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Wong

My friends and I stayed 4 nights at the Taku Resort and Marina in July 2013. For the price we were paying we were really expecting something special; instead we found mediocre. (By contrast you might check out my review of The Buccaneer Inn in Nanaimo; seven nights there for almost the equivalent of four nights at the Taku.)

Resort is a bit of a stretch for this place. We stayed in a Terrace Room, equipped with kitchen and such. The room was spacious and well laid out, but really tired looking and pretty run-down. Patio doors off the living room and bed room were a complete mess. Carpets were snagged and worn. Spiders and various winged things in the room throughout our stay. No room service to speak of, although someone did come around once a day to empty the kitchen garbage. When you require any type of service you have to make your way to the front office, use a house phone to call someone, wait for them to arrive to assist you...not particularly handy.

In general, Taku is a kind of glorified campground with several amenities for the camping/boating crowd. Fine enough, but if you're looking for camping do you really want to pay such inflated rates? I guess your paying for the "luxury" of living on an island for a while. (But let's face it...Quadra is no Salt Spring.)

Good location for nearby amenities.

We were a group of 4 adults (two couples). We were originally booked into a very compact beach front cottage although the reservation agent did try to talk us into a larger one.
When we arrived we could see why and fortunately were able to change to a bigger beachfront cottage. The small one would be suitable for a couple or a family with 1 or 2 children.
We were absolutely delighted with the cottage we rented. The decor was lovely and suitable to the location. The beds were very comfortable and the couple sleeping upstairs found that there was opportunity for through ventilation thanks to well screened window at each end of the loft room. There was even a fan upstairs as well as a nightlight to prevent stumbling in the dark.
Each cottage has a full kitchen, a well designed bathroom with a tub as well as a lovely deck with a propane BBQ and a wood picnic table as well as a couple of comfortable resin chairs.
We were impressed with how well the resort was maintained. There was a tennis court, a half sport court as well as a lovely jacuzzi set among the tall Douglas Fir and Cedar trees.
The Marina itself was well kept with several high end yachts and sailboats moored there.
We enjoyed swimming from the dock and also took advantage of the kayak tours offered by the Quadra Island Kayaks next door who also used the Marina.
We found to our delight that there was a full service grocery store complete with liquor outlet and post office just 300 meters away.
We used the location as a starting point for visiting Rebecca Spit provincial park and also many hikes. We will be back!

I'm pleased we were able to accommodate your group to the other cabin and very glad it met your expectations. You are right, the Intimate Beachfront Cabin is better suited to a couple or a family with 1 - 2 children. Some of our guests get stuck on the resort with all the on-site activities you listed and it's great you were able to explore all Quadra has to offer.

Thank you for taking the time to write the wonderful review. We look forward to seeing your group again.

Sixteen of us gathered to catch up on the more than 50 years since we graduated. We spent three nights in the Terrace Suites, which are very well-equipped and beautifully decorated - including original art. The resort is well located so we were able to enjoy the attractions of Quadra Island: craft studios, the Museum at Cape Mudge, and wonderful hiking trails, to name a few. A well-stocked grocery and wine store is a 5- minute walk away. There are excellent facilities for producing group meals. As a returning British Columbian, I especially enjoyed the log-strewn beaches, inter-tidal life and flotsam, distant views of forested hills and closer up, of beautiful Rebecca Spit. It would be good to do this again!
