Stayed here for a wedding and cannot fault it one bit, stunning views, perfect rooms, wonderful breakfast Chris and Valda are the perfect hosts, cannot wait to return.
Chris and Valda were wonderful hosts, very helpful in suggesting places to visit and their recommendation for dinner was spot on.
We stayed in the en-suite room which was immaculate, with tastefully and unfussy decoration with lots of little extras, such as fresh fruit, touch lighting and crisp bedlinen.
Breakfast was a real feast, nothing was too much trouble and we would be happy to recommend The Old Coop to any of our friends who are looking for a luxury weekend away.
We stayed at the Old Co-op when visiting Huddersfield for a local wedding. The hospitality, rooms and in particular the choice at breakfast were all first class.
The Old Co-op is centrally situated in the picturesque village of Thurstonland, nestling in the glorious Pennine Hills above the famous old town of Holmfirth. This is 'last of the summer wine' country at its most splendid. The Old Co-op has been tastefully renovated by owners Chris and Valda Dawson in the traditional style of a West Riding famhouse. The two guest rooms are beautifully appointed and enjoy opens vistas over fields and hills. Breakfast is a sumptuous affair and, whilst dinner is not generally available, agreeable Inns with decent cuisine can be found close by. The owners work very hard at making your stay in their home a pleasure.
.We travelled to Huddersfield for a wedding and stayed for two days at The Old Co-op. All I can say is "what a find” Valda and Chris were the perfect hosts. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. The attention to detail in the rooms is what really makes a difference. From Tea trays with biscuits to fruit and chocolates. Bath robes, hairdryers and toiletries all provided.
The most outstanding breakfasts with everything from fresh fruit and cereals, home made croissants and preserves to full English or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
We really had a lovely stay and are planning to book again soon.
I cannot recommend Chris and Valda's B&B highly enough. The place itself is stunning, set in rolling hills, with the noise of sheep baa-ing and birds chirruping to wake you in the morning. The Old Co-op is beautifully decorated, the perfect balance between modern and traditional to feel stylish and elegant.
You are offered a choice of breakfast, which is cooked freshly to order in the morning and served with lashings of lovely homemade bread, tea and coffee. Ask for the mini pancakes, they're delicious :)
Chris and Valda were extremely helpful, and even went as far as finding and booking somewhere local for us to go for a nice dinner at the weekend, and giving us a lift there so we could drink with our dinner.
In summary - excellent value for money, a delight to discover somewhere so pretty, and to feel like you are important, rather than another body through the door.
