“Wonderful Wine County Stay”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Spending three days in Prince Edward County touring some of their delightful vineyards, tasting lots of Ontario wine, and spending time with our adult children, we used this little inn as a base. It's location right on Picton's Main Street is ideal, putting you close to most of the major vineyards in the area. Located over a "Dollar Store" and with a locked entrance directing us around back to another building was not a good start, but the hotel/inn is actually delightful. The rooms are large clean and attractive. The efficient & quiet central AC was welcome after a week of hot muggy Ontario weather, and added to our Prince Edward County trip.

The town of Picton is a nice little spot with a great collection of unique shops and good restaurants, so if you are looking for a spot to rest up after a hectic day of wine tasting, this is a excellent choice.

My girlfriend and I meet up every so often for some R & R. This year we decided to explore Prince Edward County. Picton was the right place to be in the middle of it all. The Queen's Inn was the perfect place to stay. It is right on Main street, free parking, small (8 rooms) modern, clean, and quiet (in itself, although there is some street noise expected considering its location but nothing excessive).

It is true that this place is different in that there is no elevator (only two storeys) or reception area but that's easy enough to accept. Kylee greeted us upon our arrival with a big smile and lots of useful info at the renovation centre in the back. She walked us over and got us oriented, even providing some excellent recommendations. (When in town, you have to do a wine tour with PECWineTours.com We had a blast with Jessica! - and eat at Portabella on Main Street. Delicious! Superb service!)

We have no complaints (except maybe WiFi kept dropping but no big deal when you're out and about all day).

We would definitely return to this beautiful area and would stay at The Queen's Inn again! Great place!

Room Tip: Tell Kylee your needs and she'll place you in the right room.

It is rather unusual not to have a front desk or anyone at the hotel but things work out fine. It is an ideal location right on the main street of Picton. The rooms are quite adequate and extremely clean. The décor is not fancy but adequate. There is a lot of traffic noise from the street which is far busier than you could imagine for a small town like Picton. Ear plugs are supplied in the bathroom along with soap, shampoo, body gel, lotion and shower bonnets. The rooms are up a set of carpeted stairs and the free parking is conveniently located right beside the building. There is no vending machines or ice machines in the building. The Mac's Milk store next door has just closed but the garage across the road has ice, pop and a few other things to eat. It is nothing fancy but the cleanliness makes me give the place a strong recommendation. I did think that there should have been an off season rate as it seemed the room rate was a little high. (there were no tourists around.)

This is a wonderful 8 Beautifully appointed Units in the heart of downtown Picton, right on the Main Street. It was a spur of the moment overnight trip to tour the County of Prince Edward! Decorated with superb beds, earth tones, everything was spotless, lots of towels, coffee maker, eat room separately heated. It was wonderful to see the interest in the person who signed us in! Go to Cleave's behind the building and rent your room, or email and can pick up keys upon arrival. Very accommodating. You are on your on but a on call person if needed! It was a great stay, would recommend to anyone travelling the County! They supplied us with map of the county and all the local travel materials. Walked to dinner, nice walk downtown, great parking at side! Will go again! A lovely town to visit!

Room Tip: All rooms were great! No elevator so we chose the first level up! Saw all types of rooms and each is...

We arrived late but were able to access our keys in a "coded" lockbox in the parking area. The room was clean, spacious and filled with lots of those little things that make life easy e.g., lotions, shampoos, towels, wash cloths, kleenex, tourist information etc. There are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, Portabella, in particular was pleasing. Our trip was arranged through a telephone call and as there is no front desk we did not see a hotel employee during our stay, however they were available by phone and would come in to attend to any problems. We would be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: The hotel is on the second and third floors of the building so call early and ask for a second floor...

I know it sounds odd that this hotel's "front desk" is a renovation store in the back parking lot, but don't let that keep you from trying the Queen's Inn! They really have it down pat. We knew we would be arriving late, so a quick phonecall to staff got us the "code" to access our room key from an outdoor lockbox. Everything else went equally smoothly. The room was LARGE, clean and well-equipped with plenty of towels, coffee, etc. for our whole stay. Right outside the front door is the main street -- with shops, restaurants, banks, gas stations, etc. Extremely convenient -- the locals are very helpful to tourists and the town is so picturesque. If you are an "independent traveller" -- i.e. don't need valet parking or help up the stairs with your luggage -- then this is a delightful place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main street have some street noise.

We stayed at the Queen's INN in July for 3 nights. Reading the reviews, you are never quite sure until you arrive. We were very delighted with the large room, cleanliness and great location right on main street. Lots of great restuarants and shopping within walking distance or a very short drive. Picked up keys at the establishment behind the inn ( it's in the same parking lot). Very friendly service as well as quick response through email. Yes, there is no ice on sight but the store was across the street. Bought ice and snacks and filled the ice buckets and cooler we had with us - it was no problem. We don't travel to spend time talking to the front desk so not having someone on sight was a non issue for us. We were in the large corner room (2nd fl) and didn't have any issue with noise during our stay though we did notice the ear plugs. Spent an afternoon at Sandbanks Provincial park swimming & sunning, visited some wineries and enjoyed some great meals. If in the area again, we would definitely go back to the Queen's Inn. We thought it was good value. If you want better, be prepared to pay more.
