We spent a week at Sandbanks in the Woodlands campground (electric sites) with other family members on lots close by. This was the first time we camped without water and sewer. The lots where we were, were nice and large but will no shade. The water situation was not a problem since we filled up on potable water on entering the park. We were very impressed they had a dog beach - that was really nice so we were able to take our dog swimming with us and enjoy a whole day at the beach. My only real complaint is about the washrooms and showers. It did not matter at what time you went, but they were always filthy. I know the cleaning staff was cleaning them but in no time they were dirty again and most time with no toilet paper to be found. It was also strange - the sign on the door says bathroom closed for cleaning from 0845 to 1000 but most mornings, the bathroom was closed around 0815 since the cleaning staff was already there and working. They seemed to be getting upset that people wanted into the bathroom while they were cleaning - guess that's what happens when you show up 30 minutes earlier then the posted time. I know these teenagers are doing the best they can but you can't mess with bathroom time!!! Other then that, our stay was good but I don't think we will be going back there anytime soon.

From the moment you arrive to minute you leave. The camp grounds are well organised and well kept. The beach is out of this world, who would of thought that Lake Ontario would of been so beautiful. On a windy day you have waves you can swim in, you feel like your down South. The only thing that I didn't like were the outhouses, they aren't well kept. I suggest (especially with kids) that you hop in the car and drive to the washrooms with showers near other campsite or the beach.

Sandbanks is really worth visiting for its splendid beach. Soft white sand and shallow warm water, it is a perfect place for families with young kids. The camping in the park is average, but the beach is awesome!

I love Sandbanks Provincial Park. We have been going to this great beach for a number of years are are always amazed at the huge beach, calm Lake Ontario water and the shallow shore. You can walk out for at least a hundred metres and still not be in deep water. This is. Great summer place for every age.
Cost to get into the park is $16 for a car - a bit expensive, but you are accessing a great beach and you can stay there for many hours.
Both the beach and the water is very clean.
One tip, when you drive in don't stop at the first 3 pr 4 parking areas - there is more room as you drive further into the park. Do watch out for the crowds on weekends.

I don't know what was the cause, and the young man at the gate did not know either , but I was disgusted by the floating garbage( balloons, plastic wine bottle corks, dead insects, gull feathers and many bits of plastic garbage) that covered the surface of most of the lake near Outlet Beach, parking lot 10 area, on Monday, July 14. It completely destroyed any urge to swim or enjoy the beach. It looked like bilge water pumped out of a cruise ship. In addition, the lake bottom has algae blooms and the top has bubbles floating in masses, not a healthy lake. Where is the pristine beauty of a few years ago? Why is there trash in the sand when there are plenty of trash cans!?
