We stayed at this resort during the last week of July. We rented one of the cottages as we wanted to bring our dog with us and we were quite happy that this option was available. We knew cottages were rustic which was not an issue, but these cottages were dirty. When we arrived the counters had not been wiped down, there were globs of sticky substance that I ended up wiping off....the floors had dirt/dust in corners..

we also had a fridge with a compressor that made a very loud knocking noise every 30 minutes or so..our first night we had no sleep so the next morning we called and logged this. It was a sunday so we were not certain if we would have service that day. We did not and went through a second night of the loud knocking sound every 30 minutes. On monday a new fridge was delivered to the cottage which resolved the issue.

The cottages did not have daily housekeeping every day but every 3rd day. The 3rd day came and went and no housekeeping. We called on 4th day to say no one came out to clean the cottage and we were told that the policy was every 3rd day and we had to remind them when we checked in and that this was now the 4th day. Someone came out and ...changed the bathroom towels..thats it. A vacum was not run over the carpet which obviously had sand and needed a quick vacume.....the floors were not swept I ended up doing it because I could not stand the filth and fact that the floors and carpets were not even swept/vacumed. We left early because of the unkept state of the cottage.
The highlight was the pass to Sandbanks and quick proximity to the park.....we were really looking forward to this getaway but dissapointed. We will not be returning back to this resort

We stayed for one night on the upper level of Lodge #1 & had a few issues with the room, also the attitude of an office. The water pipes in the bathroom had a high pitched whistle occurring throughout the day and night, which would only stop when the toilet was flushed - not at all conducive for a restful sleep. The plug for the tub would not hold water at all. The water in the bathroom was only barely warm, not hot at all. The air conditioning unit rattled like an old wagon. Opened wine & beverage pkg of previous guests were still in the fridge. We told the clerk at check-out in the morning that we were not 100% happy with the accommodations. She interrupted us before we listed all the items. She seemed annoyed, and told us she was not a manager and could not offer anything. And in an unfriendly manner, that there were always lots of complaints from guests especially on long weekends and that is was kind of funny that we were only telling her at checkout instead of during our stay. We had not asked for compensation at all. This was an expensive lesson learned … always let the staff know if there needs to be something corrected with a room right away.

Room Tip: Always let the staff know if there needs to be something corrected with a room right away!

My family and I stayed at this so called resort last weekend. The good thing about it, I should say, was its proximity to Sandbanks Provincial Park. The hotel rooms are very similar to roadside motels and very much run down. The swimming pool was a non-heated small pool with no life guard and in a very lonely place in the middle of rows of units that were similar to old motels. Before going there, we were so happy to have access to private beach. Well, that one was also a mess. The first question was why nobody was at the beach. But it was no surprise after seeing rough sand/ rock surfaces with no beach chairs or facility available around it. The shores were not kept clean or being looked after. There was no garbage bins, either! It was worth it for us to spend long time in line ups to get our tickets to the provincial park and enjoy the beautiful Sandbanks.

There were a couple of ponds that supposed you could sit around them and enjoy, but they were not that clean. You could not stand the smell of mildew.

Overall, this was a very overpriced accommodation and with not much of facilities. The staff were friendly but they couldn't do much with the whole situation. Next time, we'd rather stay farther from the park, but in a better hotel or resort. And also make sure you understand the cancellation policy of the hotel/ resort! Basically you cannot cancel!!

I stayed at the resort last Saturday and will never return. When we got there we asked for an upgrade to be by the water not on the highway, we got the parking lot view, we were on the water, around the corner though. We booked jacuzzi rooms (we had another couple with us) and opted for these rooms wich they said we were on the water, if thats what they call on the water! Our friends got a smaller room for an extra 60 dollars and we got a carpet stained room for the same price $279. The restaurant was aweful...we ordered appetizers, wich we never got, and got our main 40 mins later...wich was aweful too! The salad was wilted, steak sandwich was like rubber and on top of all that the waitress spilled a beer on both our friends!!! The bathroom shower did not drain, AC did not work properly, asked for at least some fans and never got them! We brought our boats and if you have something bigger than a fishing boat or sailboat DO NOT BRING IT...our seadoo boat got ruined by all the weeds there! One guy there that was helpful was a guy named Jerry...he should run the place instead of running around for them....he recommended The Knoll restaurant wich was great! Best part of our trip beside dinner? NOTHING! waste of time and money!

Room Tip: Rooms are old and smell...

My family and I use to come here all the time and have always loved it and it still has not changed! The place is great, such nice rooms and very friendly staff. The food is amazing at the restaurant and the bar, great selection. Numerous vegetarian options which was very nice! I was staying in 1115, which is a lovely lodge room right on the lake - would totally recommend that specific room as it has the best lakeview! Also very spacious and has its own screened-in deck which is awesome at night when you want to look out at the beach without getting bitten by bugs!

Room Tip: pick one of the lodge rooms instead of the inn rooms, so much nicer and definitely worth the extra price.
