Ross and Diane were amazing. Made us feel so welcome and spoiled. The weekend was for resting and relaxing before the holiday madness. Brown's manor is definately the place for that. The food was fabulous, the estheticians doing the manicures and pedicures were wonderful. We have never felt so pampered. The house is magnificent and the location is fantastic. A short walk to shops and resturants. A short drive to winery's and the beach (even in november it was beautiful). I would absoutly recommend Browns Manor. A haven away from the real world.

My husband and I stayed at Browns Manor Sept. 8 - 10 2008 we arrived at this lovely historic home and were greeted by the owners Ross and Diane. We were shown to our suite " The Colonial" it was beautiful with a Kingsize bed and lovely ensuite that was spotless. We later had a tour of the house and all of the suites, we were very impressed overall. Our breakfasts were amazing with coffee waiting for us each morning. Ross and Diane were great hosts and helped us with dinners, our wine tours of the area. We sat on the front porch and enjoyed the surroundings. All in all a spectacular getaway.

This B&B is absolutely delightful. The owners are extremely accomodating and attentive. We booked the entire property for a girls weekend and we felt like we were home. The owners keep a beautiful property, fantiastic pieces to truly add to the charm of the place. The parlour is perfect for gathering after a long day and everything is warm and inviting, you don't think you are in a B&B but rather an exquisite home.

The breakfasts were amazing with everything home made. Located on a quite street proximate to the core of the downtown, all amenities are within walking distance.

We thuroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking to plan our next weekend at the Brown's Manor. It was definitely a treat and joy to stay there and we highly recommend if you are going to Picton or a tour of the vineyards of Eastern Ontario, this is a must stay.

When we arrived we were upgraded at no charge to the 3rd floor Ambassador room because the cheaper room that we'd booked was still occupied. A small screwup, handled well.
The room was up a winding staircase and along a sloped ceiling hallway at the top of the house. It was very clean and quite nicely decorated. The bathroom with its large whirlpool tub and separate walk-in shower was huge and and so spotless it seemed to be brand new. Ross, the owner, did explain that one window shouldn't be opened because the screen was gone. He'd been waiting almost a month after the promised date for the delivery of new windows and screens. The interior of the house is beautiful (they ask you to remove your shoes at the door). But there's a 3yr plan to update and renew the exterior. The new owners took possession in November 2007 and opened for business in April 2008. Looking good for the future!
The real disappointment came at breakfast. Perhaps it was just that only one of the owners was home the morning we stayed, but Ross was a little overwhelmed at trying to serve breakfast to his 6 guests. He asked us to have a late breakfast with the two that had bumped us so that he could serve a pair of cyclists first. Coffee was promised from an early hour. When we arrived for breakfast shortly before the agreed on 0900 the promised cups for coffee where not available on the side board. Once we sat down, no glasses were supplied for the orange juice. When he brought out the omelets for the 4 guests that were eating a little later than the early bird cyclists, he'd only placed 3 eating plates out so one guest couldn't take one as we passed it around. The breakfast potatoes sat cooling in a bowl from the earlier guests. No fresh ones were provided for the main contingent. The breakfast was good, but nothing special.
Picton is a town of wonderful gardens. The gardens at Brown's need a little TLC -- but that's probably part of the 3 year exterior plan.
All in all not a bad B&B, but with a bit of work in the kitchen it could be a really exceptional B&B in Picton.

Our stay at Brown’s Manor in Picton operated by Ross and Diane was picture perfect. Breakfasts were simply delicious with homemade jams and preserves, fresh eggs and fruit, bacon and peameal bacon. The cooking was delicious and very satisfying.

The host/owner Ross was everything you could ask for in a B&B host. He was very helpful and nice and suggested different travel routes to take and pointed out “can’t miss attractions” in the area. Ross also suggested the two finest restaurants in town (Currah’s and Portabella’s) for our dinners and even made reservations for us.

The building was simply breathtaking with its old world charm, cast iron radiators, hardwood floors, decor and beautiful porch. We stayed in The Ambassador Suite with its many windows and immense bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The room is very quiet we had a thunderstorm during our stay and you could hardly hear it. There are no squeaky floors or stairs anywhere. We were provided with a full sized fridge in the hall way on the 3rd floor to keep our many perishable treasures that we picked up on our day trips. A water cooler is located on the second floor to refill your travel bottles for day trips.

Brown’s Manor is located in a very quiet part of town, yet it is fairly central, a 5-10 minute walk will get you to the theatre or fine dining or simply to pick up a few items downtown. Parking is readily available in the driveway of the property.
