The ofuro spa prides in naming its facilities the 'most zen spa'.
If I were to name a public place/moment for the last few years where I felt less aggressed, that won't be ofuro.
I was relaxing, between baths, reading a book on my huge phone screen; mind you, at the moment the phone wasn't really a phone, in airplane mode having no connectivity.
One of their patrolling agent came to me and said: how do you dare using your phone, phones aren't allowed, bla-bla.
Told him the phone was actually reduced to a soundless ebook reader at the moment, he didn't want to hear any of it.
So I put the devide in my robe's pocket.
A minute or so later..!!..the same guy comes back: " I told you to put it in your pocket AND lock it in your lockers". Replied: "And I intend to do so, as soon as I get outside, let me rest for a couple minutes.."
He insisted I should do it right then, in a menacing tone.
So I just gave up, not worth the trouble of arguing with a dedicated ebook lover..:)
I never felt more like a criminal in my life, it had to happen in 'the most zen spa in quebec'..:)
Other than this, probably paid more attention later on, but surveillance cameras in the trees, facing the pools and also in the relaxing room seem disconcerting at best.
Stick with le refuge or similar places where reading an ebook, even on your cellphone, is ok, or was an year ago. myself won't go back either way.
