“Fantastic!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

We went to Bostrom's for two nights for an anniversary trip. Judy immediately made us feel at home and was so wonderful for the entire stay. We were so comfortable in the room and enjoyed using the hot tub outside after our long days of hiking. The view off that deck... gorgeous. And I haven't even mentioned the food yet :) We took a picture of our breakfast... BOTH mornings!!

I just love it when folk take pictures of the breakfast! We use borage, violas, and nasturtiums to decorate our plates and spiralize vegetables and fruits for texture. Comments like this make me want to do even better. I must go practice my drizzling! ;D

We spent 3 nights at this fabulous B&B situated on Little Beach. What a location! stunning views, natural beauty of Little Beach and surrounding area. Hosts Gary and Judy are the most warm and welcoming hosts with a great knowledge of local areas of interest and eating places. Judy's breakfasts are of the highest gourmet standard. Both can advise about the wildlife you can see in the area, in particular Gary for whales/ bear sightings and Judy is a mine of information about absolutely anything. The decking areas have superb views, to relax, with a book, coffee, plan your day, or chat about your days adventures, and don't forget the hot tub. Inside is a great source of games, books leaflets, a gigantic tv and pool/snooker table.
We have just arrived home and are planning to be back in a couple of years to spend longer here,as 3 days is definately not long enough.

As landlubbers from Switzerland we of course enjoyed the spectacular ocean setting right in front of Bostrom's BB, the warm hospitality and gorgeous breakfasts of Judy. We felt welcome in a very comfortable and beautifully decorated room. Sitting in the evening sun on the ocean deck, listening to the sounds of the water, the bald eagles - and looking forward to a declicous seafood meal in Ucluelet. That's what we call a vacation! The whale watching trip with Judy's husband Gery was a highlight of our trip. We will be back at Bostrom's!

I think my husband, Gary, does the best whale watching trips around and I'm so glad you were able to go out with him. Gary is able to offer a First Nations cultural interpretation of the area and mix it up with few stories of his own, written after a lifetime on the water. Unfortunately, because he is working for Majestic Kayaking, on the Broken Group Day Trip, I can not always book him for whale watching tours. Luckily there are plenty of other operators and enough whales and sea animals for all to enjoy.
"We will be back at Bostrom's". I sure hope so! I'll keep the espresso machine warmed up for you!

This B&B is located near an authentic fishing village!

Awesome natural surroundings ranging from Little Beach Bay out to Big Beach and beyond the along the Pacific Rim Trail.

Beautiful.

Charming.

Delicious breakfasts that are gourmet calibre!

Efficient accomodation near to many locations to find all that you'd want for your vacation. A short half-hour drive towards Tofino brings you to TOF Cycles (Sharp Rd. behind the Dolphin Motel), where beach bikes of various sizes can be rented. Check out the surf of Chesterman Beaches and Cox Bay.

Fitness: Check out the nearby Pacific Rim Trail to see the light house, fawns and small deer, bears, stellar jays, and possibly the occassional wolf or cougar.

Gary's boat brought us to see humpbacks and for kayaking out in the Broken Islands, where we went swimming in the slightly cool waters off Gibraltar Island beach.

Hot tub is great, especially when there is fog coming from the ocean. There is no pool.

Room Tip: The TRAIL SUITE will be best for those who want to prepare their meals "at home"

The Trail suite is best for preparing meals "at home". It has it's own barbeque and kitchenette. The teak table on the deck has a breaktaking view on warm sunny days and there is a dining table in the suite should the weather not permit. It is also called the "homeymoon suite" because there is no one below you or on either side.
The Wild and Pacific rooms share a barbeque and a kitchenette and many folk who choose to make their own dinner eat down on the ocean front deck with the water lapping below them, on a teak dining suite in front of the common room (with a fabulous view), or on the teak bistro table in the private alcove in front of their room (again a fabulous view). For the more adventuresome, there is a firepit overlooking the bay where you can roast hot dogs or put a salmon on racks over the fire..

Spent 2 nights in Bostrom's and it was simply amazing.

Judy and Gary are exceptional hosts and the welcome you get (and explanation of the surroundings and what to do) is brilliant.

The room itself was beautifully decorated and had every possible little requirement catered for even down to providing ear plugs (not that you would need them unless you had a snoring partner!)

There is also a beautiful common room fully equipped for all needs from a coffee machine to picnic sets.

A glass of wine on the ocean deck in the late evening is a must.

Finally, the breakfast is outstanding and beautifully prepared by Judy each morning. (Make sure you ask her to show you "Baxter's" tricks if he is around at the time!!:-)

A return trip to Vancouver Island would be worth it for this place alone!!

Baxter will always be around when bacon is being served. What a mercenary! His special trick is that he will say "Mama" when asked, "Who do you love". He's a "one trick puppy" but I have to admit, it is a good trick!
Thank-you for your kind words James. Looking forward to see you next time you're in this neck of the woods.

We spent 7 nights at the Trail Suite and had an amazing time. The suite was wonderful, lovely decor and contained almost anything you would need for a little getaway. Most of all the view was awesome. You could actually spot the bald eagles from afar.

Loved the gourmet breakfasts prepared by Judy each morning. Enjoyed the way Judy would engage the other guests so that we had a chance to share our experiences, at breakfast or at night over the fire.

Always lots to do during the day, kayaking, whale watching and hiking on the Wild Pacific Trail, a five minute drive from Bostroms. Our treat at the end of the day was to soak in the hot tub and sometimes even at night gazing at the stars. One evening, we were pleasantly surprised with fresh Dungeness crabs which were provided from Gary's catch. Best crabs we have had in a long time

Thank you very much to Judy and Gary for making the stay at Bostroms so memorable. We hope to be back again.

We love to treat our guests with fresh crab or side stripe prawns. Unfortunately, during our peak season we often become too busy to put our traps out and, with other visitors fishing crab and prawns, the catch is often few and far between. We look forward to the spring and fall when both crab and time is plentiful and we can put smiles on the faces of our guests.

We enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at Bostrom's. Judy is a most gracious host and a phenomenal cook. The breakfasts were delicious. We had everything we needed in the Trail Suite and then some. Truly appreciated access to a BBQ as this allowed us to purchase fresh fish from town and cook it ourselves. Bostrom's is definitely one of the best B&B's we have ever stayed at. Baxter, the dog, was also a great host. Will definitely be back to Bostrom's and hopefully soon!

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to your return!
Though we are not permitted, by village law, to offer cooking facilities in the B&B we do have barbecues with side elements that round off to the kitchenettes in the common room and the kitchenette in the Trail suite. We also have a fire pit overlooking the bay. By village law, food can be cooked on our fire pit only "for ceremonial purposes". My take on that rule is that when roasting hot dogs or marshmallows one must sing a few chorus' of Kombya! :)
