“Best place to stay on vancouver island”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

We found Reef point cottages in last minute and I must say it was a really pleasant surprise. First the welcoming staff was very helpful and arranged for us a third night since we liked it so much. Second the cottages. They feel very homey, nice furniture and everything you need is there. very clean and well maintained. We ended up making the price difference by dinning home. The area is super calm and a good start for many walks. I personally recommend doing the wild trail around the lighthouse. The sunset's are magnificent. Although we didn't use it there was a hot tub on the deck that seemed a bit old but we where reassured seeing the service man coming to check on it. There is a gas BBQ on the deck which we used. Ucluelet is a great starting point to visit the national park next door and the famous long beach where surfers meet. I want to come back someday for a longer stay.

A group of friends and I stayed at these cabins and it was a great time. They had a nice small deck with a BBQ and the living room area was great for us all to hang out in. We did not have any problems and the place was pretty clean. The bedding was a bit scratchy but other than that it was a nice stay.

Room Tip: Only some rooms have hottubs. Might be nice to try and get the end cabins for more parking and spac...

Stayed for 2 nights, between us we had 3 cabins. All were very nice and a nice forest setting. Saw lots of wildlife. They were well equipped and had everything we needed. Generally speaking the grounds could have done with some more upkeep/maintenance. Would stay in Ucluelet over Tofino any day!

I wouldn't recommend staying here, there are way nicer places in tofino for similar costs. A group of us came and stayed two days in a few cabins, ours had a cheep rusty bbq and a smelly dirty soft tub. The heater smelled badly of gas when we turned it on, The floors and kitchen table were sticky and half of the things in the kitchen were either missing or in very poor shape. The beds were hard and we were charged an arm and a leg to bring my chihuahua who can hardly walk let alone make a mess. And it was not at all pet friendly. We take our dogs all over the place and for the extra fee (which is always less then here) they usually leave some extra dog towels, blankets or somthing. I wouldn't come back

We booked our cabin from the US, and you will find almost entirely Canadians this far up. The Pacific Coast around Ucluelet is absolutely magnificent. Our cabin (#10) cost around 110 US per day and was clean, cozy, efficient. There were "For Sale" signs on some of the little cabins including ours, and I presume these may be individually owned time shares, simple "managed" by the front office, which could explain the several minor but annoying disconnects.

The advertised WIFI was mostly non existent, although we did find a signal by sitting on a big rock near the office. There was a wall mounted older model CRT TV and the remote did not work. Not a big deal, but the promise to send somebody over was forgotten. When I did track down the maintenance guy, Adrian, he came over and to be fair, tried very hard to fix it and even left us some of his DVD's.

We had lovely weather, and really, who needs TV?, but WiFi is crucial for my wife's happiness.
The advertised "hot tub" is actually a bath tub with jets which never worked, and the staff had no interest in fixing it.

The bedding, towels, fridge, microwave, window, deck, barbecue, dishwasher, coffeemaker and other amenities were excellent, even first class in some cases.

Their location is, in my opinion, a bit oversold in the literature. While it is indeed not far from the Pacific, it is a bit of a hike through other similar cabin properties, and our views were mainly of the dirt driveway and other cabins.

One thing that I really liked is that no two cabins look alike; they are in all sorts of colors and sizes, kind of like a Disney studio lot. You CAN walk to one of the beaches, a lovely rugged cove across the street. A small, subdued wedding was taking place when we went one day. Everything else is a drive.

It is often the small things that can make or break a holiday experience, and the resorts that embrace that are the ones that you always want to revisit. I would cautiously recommend this to my friends, but note that it's promise of "idyllic scenery and breathtaking activities" may still have a way to go.

Room Tip: Discuss by phone if possible what does and does NOT work in the cabin They are all different, and pr...

We booked 2 months ahead, as we were attending a wedding & wanted to be sure of accommodation. We got a cabin that had cracked tiles, missing light bulbs, etc.
The worst part was the hot tub. The lid was broken, with the particle board so water logged we couldn't even lift it off. I went to the office & explained, & the girl at the desk played dumb. "Oh.
I'm so sorry. We were unaware of that. We'll send maintenance over to help." When he arrived he
cheerfully told us. "Oh . No problem. I'm used to this. I've been suggesting to the owner for a couple of years that he replace it, but he won't. So obviously they were totally aware of the shoddy care of the unit & gave us the lousy one to be sure they rented it & got their cut of the rental. The people in the unit beside us pulled in with no reservation, & got a much better hot tub which the family enjoyed all weekend. We stopped using ours because it was too much hassle & my husband & I both have bad backs & couldn't call maintenance every time we wanted to use it. (Which was part of the reason we wanted a hot tub. We wanted to soothe our
aching backs!!) What a ripoff!. We'll never stay there again.

I read the reviews about maintenance but our unit #24 was in good shape save for the cheap little bbq. It was clean and kitchen was well stocked. We had decent privacy for the hot tub in the back of the cabin. If you are social get a unit with the hot tub in the front but if you want privacy ensure it is in the back. The water was always hot on demand and we didn't need the heaters on. This unit does not have a fireplace if that is important.

The room was serviced efficiently daily and Adrian the young maintenance man was very friendly.

#24 has a bedroom in the lower level and was perfect for one couple. You could exist comfortably with a couple of kids using the pullout couch but it would be on the tight side. The location is perfect...you can walk to town, grocery store, trails, beach and the lighthouse.

Yes it's not spanking new but the wood finish and location maximizes the "natural" feel. We got lovely sun in the afternoon on the front porch and sat and played cards there.

All in all good value with space and all the core amenities you need.

Room Tip: #24 is perfect for a couple. We got internet there. It backs onto the forest with a peekaboo view...
