Owner description: The Wild Pacific Trail is located in Ucluelet and is a seven phase trail system skirting the rugged cliffs and shoreline of the west coast of Vancouver Island. Overlooking Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands to the east and the open Pacific Ocean to the south and west, it offers spectacular shoreline panoramas and seaward vistas through ancient cedar and spruce-framed viewing platforms constructed on the best headlands along the route.

“Great location for a short walk”
Reviewed August 2, 2014 via mobile

This was a great short walk - we did the lighthouse loop, and on the advice of resort staff, did it anti-clockwise. The views were spectacular, with lots of great spots for taking photos. We were lucky enough to see a steller's jay and a racoon towards the end of our walk.

“Always memorable!”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

Uclulet and its partners are to be commended for creating this wonderful community asset. Its creation was a major factor in our decision a few years back to switch the focal point of our regular visits to the West Coast from Tofino to Uclulet.

This trail is very special indeed - the adjacent National Park Reserve has nothing comparable. The trail offers unparalleled access to the rugged rocky shoreline (as opposed to the sandy beaches) that characterizes this coastline. There's always something going on along the route, both in the forest and on the shoreline itself. Stormwatching along this trail is unrivalled in season.

The trail is easy walking - a few climbs, but nothing too strenuous, and there are plenty of benches with great viewpoints along the way. The trail has recently been extended, and the new sections are just as worthwhile as the previous stretches.

This trail will be a major factor in keeping us coming back to Uclulet for years to come!

“Lighthouse Trail -Stunning Views”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

We did the lighthouse trail a 2.5 km loop trail. The views were stunning, and we spent ages taking beautiful photos. The trail is very well maintained with a gentle gradient all the way around, and loads so tables and benches to stop and have snacks at, or just admire the scenery.

“Great easy trail”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

My 15 year old jogged this trial each morning and we hiked it. It is a well maintained wide gravel path that has replaced an older raised board type walk. The views are outstanding, bring your camera. It took us hiking and stopping for photographs about an hour to do the entire loop from Terrace Beach Resort, to the lighthouse and back. There are some hills.

“Wild Pacific Trail wasn't that wild”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

A lovely walk along the coastline but more of a gravel trail than the naturally beaten trail. The coastline is rugged and the foliage is stunted and warped from the winds and sea air, so very interesting and strangely pretty. However, the trail, which is broken down into a few separate parts, was pretty average with very little strenuous parts and very little variation in the terrain. Also, it felt too man made, I personally prefer a more rugged trail to explore. That said, it is well worth the visit and a good way to see this part of the islands coastline.
