My husband and I stayed at Surf Junction for a week in August. We did the surf package, which included our site, firewood for the week, two surf lessons and our gear rentals for the week. The price was right and we had a blast.
The sites are varied in size and if you have a large truck and trailer you won't want to take a wrong turn as the roads get very narrow. Most of the sites have good tree cover and lots of privacy. The fire pits are big but you will need to bring a grate. Our site had power and fresh water. The outhouses were very clean. The showers were clean and the stalls weren't cramped. The hottub and sauna area are FANTASTIC! Clean, well maintained and the perfect way to end a cold day of surfing. It's also a great place to meet your fellow campers.
We loved the staff! Everyone, right down to the hardworking owners, are friendly, helpful and relaxed. Our surf instructors were knowledgable and we had two great lessons. I do like that the staff doesn't put up with ignorant campers and enforces noise rules. They aren't militant but they try to ensure that everyone has a good experience.
The campground is in between Ucluelet and Tofino and close to great surf spots. We didn't mind being a little out of the way. Ucluelet is only a couple minutes drive and we loved the mellow vibe it has going on. I know everyone hears all about Tofino but don't dismiss this great little town. As for Tofino, which is about a 25 min drive, bring your wallet and an empty stomach cause it's pack full of great eats and cool shops.
Things to do:
Surf! I definitely recommend a lesson if you're a newbie, it's a safety thing as the currents are prominent and you should gets some tips. Hike! Bike! Grab a free map and go. Go for a kayak tour! We had a great kayak with Jamie's Whaling Station and I highly recommend them.
