Loved the campground, a long drive but well worth it.
Very friendly owners.
Even in the rain! We started tenting but they let us stay in the cabins....
Beautiful beach... we will be back!
It was rainy but still great, found lots of treasures on the beach.

GREAT campground, fabulous coastal views, very friendly and helpful service. We came as family of three (10 year old son) plus two grandparents - we all enjoyed our time immensely (despite the rain! we also had couple days of sun). Really do hope to come again. Friendly service with time to chat.

Room Tip: The secluded beachfront sites are wonderful!

Having stayed at a number of campgrounds on the west coast of Vancouver Island, I can say that without a doubt this is the place to go if you want to experience all the best the island has to offer. Mussell Beach is off the beaten path (literally) so it is less travelled and more remote than any of the national or private campsites on the Tofino Strip. You may find some better beaches but as an entire package, MB is the best. The owners are very genuine and gracious hosts. They have fires in the eve and bring in acoustic music monthly to keep it current. The sites range from small tent sites to bigger more open RV sites and bigger group sites. This is wilderness camping ! no plumbing or power posts so be prepared with solar lights and potable water.
My family plans to return here for the entire season next year and look forward to another summer of good times, quiet nights and some epic sea life and kayak fun. Best weather is july and august but morning fog is always in play.

Was out here a couple years ago (August 2011), and it was by far the best camping experience I have ever had. Sites are large and private, and all are very beautiful. Our site was close to the water and had trees lining the site, with a private path to the ocean. We spent most of our days walking out there and investigating tide pools. Whales apparently swam by a few times but we kept missing them, saw some sea otters and a bear. The owners/staff are incredibly hospitable and I can not wait to get a chance to return.

If you're looking for wilderness camping in a peaceful setting this is the place to go! From the moment you pull in and see the ocean, all reality slips away and you're lost in the tranquility of nature. A major benefit is that being a bit of a distance from both Tofino & Ucluelet, it keeps the young partiers away - which can definitely be an issue sometimes when camping. Mussel Beach is the perfect location and much more enjoyable than the crowded sites in neighbouring towns. Curits & Lori are fantastic hosts and you can definitely tell they work very hard year round to keep the campground clean and well maintained. Most of the sites are right on the waters edge though there are a few sites in the bush if you'd prefer. There are outhouses throughout the property which are newly built of wood (not the plastic kind) and are very well kept! There's even cute planter boxes by some, giving it a garden appeal rather than just an outhouse. I found this touch to be really nice. With the abundance of wood around they have built these awesome driftwood structures, be sure to check them out! We had a wonderful time beach combing, hiking - we checked out a nearby cave, watching wildlife, and simply relaxing. This place has it all! We loved our experience at Mussel Beach and we will definitely be back! Thank you Curtis & Lori for a lovely camping experience :)

My husband and I stayed here for four days back in July. It was just an incredible experience. The grounds themselves were not only naturally beautiful but they were well maintained and taken care of by the owners. Lori and Curtis were extremely hospitable and were a major part in how great the experience really was. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience being right in the middle of mother nature at it's best. That we got to see everything from sea otters to whales barely even leaving our campsite was pretty amazing too.

A great campground with wonderful hosts. The campsites are well maintained, clean and spacious. Just off the ocean/beach, it is perfect for crabbing and fishing. Curtis and his wife Lori were wonderful hosts. Nothing better than waking up hearing the waves crash on the shore! A beautiful property well worth the drive down the gravel road.
